Shame about the graphics card, cold!

Got the R610.

Blu-Ray reading is useful, but its much better if you can find it with the full HD, 1920x1080 screen.

Attracts fingerprints like a ******

WINDOWS VISTA alert.

T6500 is a good COOKER. :-)

Agreed, if Vista then avoid like the plague.
Wouldn't touch with bargepole if it's only got Vista.

Thanks, might get it. Prefer Vista.
Tho agree the gfx card is a bit meagre for the price.

Saying that, this looks ok.

No blu(e) ray but big screen. Any better on the gfx card? Odd resolution.

Think this one is too expensive. Hardware is way old for this price.

The one with big screen has terrible resolution for screen size. Graphic card is good though.

cheeky mike left vista out of the topic, i will add it and vote lukewarm.

All this hatred towards Vista. With the latest version and a decent set up it is a nice OS.
Will wait a while before changing to 7, too many kinks to unkink as with any new.

Voted cold :]

Any links available to the £500 laptop with a better graphics card and Windows 7 and a Blu-Ray player?

Wolf

Seriously, you ought to give Windows 7 a shot. It really is much much better than Vista. I struggled with Vista on my laptop for about a year before upgrading to 7 and performance is much better on the newer OS. In my opinion, Windows 7 is Microsoft unkinking the kinks in Vista.

Regarding the item; Vista and low res' screen make this a no go for me.

Windows 7 has kinks? I managed to skip the pile of excrement that is Vista completely (had XP for 8 years!), and Windows 7 is pure brilliance!

How about this one as an cheaper alternative from argos-clearance:

I tried the trial and stuck with it but went back. I couldn't see an overall benefit. It had a nice look to it.
Vista has improved enough to keep it till the next PC. Had a blue screen a short while back, conflict of some kind, it had the same code that caused a total loss of a previous PC and Vista worked for about an hour in the background and recovered it. So on that basis how could i ditch it.

That's a good deal - slower Graphics and processor than this 'un - but lots of goodies for the price.

Terrible resolution for the screen size? It's better than many! For instance 1368x768 on a 16" (or even 15") laptop is a lower pixel density than the 1680x945 18.4" Wolf linked too. It's not a brilliant deal though as Acer 8930g's were going for £450 with faster graphics and a blu-ray rom not long ago.
