Samsung RC520 Laptop (Intel Core i5, 4gb, 500GB, 15.6" Display) Black £499 @ Tesco Direct - £499

I'm looking for a laptop & came across this, it looks like a decent deal to me. I may be wrong though & if so i'll find out soon enough on this site.

It appears from feedback left by a reviewer on the product page, that the actual picture on the webpage accompanying the product isn't of the featured laptop, so please be aware of this.

Thanks for looking.

This is my first post , by the way , so please be gentle!

Tesco has done it again and put the wrong photos on for the laptop. That photo is probably for the Samsung Series 9 ultrabook. Google Samsung RC520 for the actual photos.

This spec is poor, you can get the same spec from the Dell Outlet for less than £350 almost any day of the week (even now).

Personally I think the Samsung RC520 looks ugly and fat too.

cold for me.
It is a cold deal, but comparing prices with refurbs on dell outlet is hardly fair.
Well comparing it with the Dell outlet was the easiest choice for me. You can pretty much find laptops for about the same price (£300-£400) with this spec elsewhere most of the time though.
But they are refurbs, these are new. Not a fair comparison.
Maybe i should explain why i posted this deal.

I wasn't really looking for a refurb.

I already have a 3yr old Samsung laptop that has been very reliable. From the reviews that i've recently read, they are considered to be a reliable brand. I also have a 6yr old Acer that's also been reliable & trouble free, but having seen numerous negative reviews for Acer reliabilty, i have been a bit wary of considering one of those. i was sorely tempted by a recent post on this site for an Acer 5750 at Sainsbury's online for £399.99, i have to admit. the specs seemed very good for the price, i thought.

So having done a bit of googling, i came across this Samsung for what i thought was a decent price - i couldn't find it cheaper anywhere. I'd be grateful if anyone reading this has one & what are their opinions of it? Or any Samsungs with similar or better specs to this model in th £350 - £500 price range.

I need the laptop for basic office (vat, spreadsheets, word processing), photo & home video storage & editing, internet surfing, e-mail, etc - all the normal stuff, i suppose. i'm only going to carry it around the house, maybe a few short journeys, so weight isn't an issue. Looks aren't that important to me, i need it to do the job rather than as a fashion accessory!
