I am thinking the poster here is saying he is on his iPhone and unable to check all the other prices at this time. I don't think he means what you are thinking which is put this hard drive on the iPhone.

Does any one know if this is compatible with the 160gb ipod classic (thickness of drive and connections)?

thanks

What's an iPhone?!?

Nice wee drive but I'll keep to the 2.5 for now. As much as I'm tempted by said weeness! Brilliant for those who need this size though.

oops i thought it was,will change description.sorry.

Not as hot as the Michael Jackson branded one a couple of weeks back, £37.99 for 500GB, exactly the same product otherwise...

I read somewhere that these 1.8" drives are slower than their 2.5" counterparts, 3600rpm as opposed to 5400rpm+? Can anyone confirm?

Anyone know if this can be powered by a laptop USB port? All 2.5in external drives I've tried don't get enough power while USB sticks doo.

usb sticks don't have to spin a drive... but to answer your question, try using a double header iusb cable which provides more power:

You can buy a lead that uses 2 usb ports in order to get enough power, some 2.5" drives come with them.

Not quite exactly the same product, seeing as the drive was larger.

I don't believe that one was 1.8".

Will a WDTV live power this drive?

way smaller than MJ's hard d!.... in terms of dimensions.
hence speed reduction:
"The write rates, which we recored with the CrystalDiskMark, is not on par with usual 2.5 inch USB hard drives, but just 20 MB/s. So, you have to be patient, when writing. The access time of just 29ms would not allow a use as system drive, because starting software, opening files would take sensibly long. Fortunately for the S1, this is not that revelant for external storage devices."

The fastest usb hard drives have write speeds of 33 meg/sec,
so 20 meg/sec isn't so bad.

Especially when you consider most usb pen drives have write speeds of 5 meg/sec or less !

this is actually pretty tempting! need to resist buying this... since I really have no need for it! =P

You know you must have it!!

ive ordered 3, very tempting to order more

i dont see the problem. surely if you don't need it, don't buy it?! yes, it's a hot deal (voted hot of course), but it's still £40 - a huge sum to literally leave in desk's bottom drawer.

if you need more storage than a usb stick, and also portability (and will actually use this!) then buy. if you don't need it, don't buy it - just appreciate the deal by voting hot

I stand corrected I guess that it was just a bit smaller than a standard 2.5" usb drive because of the integrated USB I/O.
