You do buy it outright by paying off the device plan and cancelling the airtime plan. Tried and tested O2 Refresh Plan method, I would have gone for it but don't want another unnecessary credit check on my file as I don't really need another phone.

I think the Google Pixel 3/XL offer is the better of the two offers though.
Thats only if your with o2 isnt it ?
All the plans are £30 upfront plus you would still have to pay the first months airtime if you cancelled. So its £30 plus whatever plan cost you chose. This is more like £625 total cost unless I am missing something?
This has gone cold ..

Yep, your missing something.

Phone remains £565 regardless of how much you pay upfront + device plan. And if you do have to pay a month of airtime upfront, take the 5gb option, which is £23 per month- so £588.

How am I? How can I buy the phone without an airtime plan?

The 5GB option also has £30 upfront cost so £618

Edit - 5GB is £37.87 plus £30 upfront so £632.87.

Right worked it out - £588 as the device rental is taken into account on the monthlies.

My point is, you can't buy this phone for £565 so the headline price is incorrect as you have to buy at least one months airtime.

You buy it with the 5gb airtime plan. Pay off the device part (which will total £565 regardless of how much you pay up front) then cancel airtime agreement. Do it in this order only. If they do charge you for a months airtime, the 5gb option at £23 a month is the lowest-although in my experience, they only charge for the time you had it-maybe couple of days.

Its a way of saving a few quid, but sometimes the savings isnt worth the hassle, or credit check if it bothers you.

I guess in theory, the headline price is correct if you are an excisting customer, as you would be already paying an airtime amount with o2. The device amount, is just in addition to that.
Would it be a sim free version too ?
Cold...link shows device only is £829
Not sure why cold, looks good to me. Thanks for posting @trottersindependent
Please advice which plan u went for
Why cold???? Good price for UK model with full 2 years UK warranty... Best its a non risk purchase compare to non UK n ebay..

ignore the cold vote... THANKS FOR POSTING

P. S. There another good deal posted by MrsWitch if you want to check
So the trick is this right?

1. Take out contract at 24 months on 5gb data for £23p/m with £520 upfront

2. After receiving the phone, next day pay off the remaining phone cost which is £45 (making a total of £565 paid for the handset)

3. The bill will come through for 1 day on the line for the £23 p/m agreement which is like £1-3.
I was just chatting in store and really like this deal, basically getting a new s10 for £565, take the £24 plan, then can swap out to a cheap sim only after a month like 6gb for £15 (although some folks on here saying swap after a day!) Some heat from me, some folks on the google pixel deal say that they get a £70 discount through chat also. T&C's say 3 months first sentence but then any time after...

"Direct purchases only. Pay the cash price for your device or spread the cost over 3 to 36 months (excludes dongles). The device cost will be the same whatever you choose. There may be an upfront cost. You need a monthly rolling Airtime Plan as long as you have a Device Plan. Pay off your Device Plan at any time and you can choose to keep your Airtime Plan, upgrade, or leave. If your Airtime Plan ends for any reason you will need to pay your Device Plan in full. UK calls/texts to standard UK landlines and mobiles and when roaming in our Europe Zone. Europe Zone data only. Fair Usage policy applies. Special and out of bundle numbers chargeable."
