Thanks. I have added this to the title.

Confused as to which is better - this or the S1070. Asda have the S1070 instore for £60 and I'm looking to get a cheap, but half-decent compact camera for my Dad

I think the S1060 has more features, including a 5x optical zoom instead of the 3x on S1070.

Has anyone got any example photos taken with this camera? Thanks!

Scratch that: samsungcamera.com/pro…=11

Looks good! I'm very tempted.

Really? I would have thought this was a good price for a reasonable 5x optical zoom camera.

Ok now wouldnt the sensible thing to do on a forum explain why its an everage deal, thus helping out buyers etc???

IMO that was the most pointless post ive seen all day.

I had Samsung compact camera. It was most worse camera I have ever had.

Have this camera and took it to Wrestlemania this year. Great camera for the price, handles bright lights quite well! Easy to use, and great pictures. Video is quite good too, the zoom is good, but steady hands are needed to get decent quality pics when zooming, can be grainy if not.

10.2M....with 2 g card??..what a bargain..........could all the moaners get a life!!!!!....heat added,you know who you are!!!!!!

Ah, thankyou, sounds good!

Just ordered one thanks

This camera looks good and the specs are decent , hot deal. These cameras are getting cheaper and cheaper now, but done always look at the megapixel ratings, I remember crap ones on those bid channels with inflated pixel ratings but too low quality pictures.

The optical zoom on this seems to be great for a camera like this, and your ready to go with the 2gb memory card which will store 100's of photos (depending on what setting you use)

Brought mine in argos earlier this year similar price i think but without the card, works well but get some decent rechargable batteries as the alkalines dont seem to last long

AA batteries is the deal breaker for me. It's 2009 for Christ sake.

Agreed. Even with 5x zoom this is not a great deal for an AA powered camera. Looks pretty bulky too.

Even if you actually want AA power (some claim the fexibility to use AAs is helpful, I don't) bear in mind you'll be funding the batteries and charger if rechargeables so shouldn't be paying so much for the camera. For this price or very little more there are some decent cameras with Li-ion rechargeables out there now.

Have you guys who knock AA battery cameras ever had one? I have two AA cameras including a FujiPix S6500 (large SLR shape) and two LI battery cameras. A decent set of AA Ni-Mh batteries certainly last as long and normally longer than your little LI battery.
They also have the advantage of being cheaper. For instance 7dayshop.com are currently doing 4 2500 NiMh batteries plus charger for £10.99 delivered. see:

Yes, several.
The rechargeable AAs don't last long and seem to fail quite early too (don't believe the '1,000 recharges' line). But the real point here is that Li-ion and charger come with their cameras, with AA cameras they don't so the cameras should be much cheaper for that reason alone.

In terms of battery prices, if you want an additional Li-ion, don't buy it on the high street; usually availabel for under a fiver via ebay traders, etc.

i will not recomend this model, because its using AA battries, after few pictures you have to change the battries

Mine arrived yesterday, impressive delivery considering I didn't order until Saturday ! Looks like a very decent camera, and much thinner than the pictures would suggest.

In fact, I was tempted to get another camera for myself, but sadly the deal has expired and it's back up to £80-odd

Nice big LCD on it as well, and considering you get a 2Gb SD card as well + duracell AAs I think it was a great deal for 10MP & 5x optical zoom compact camera.

Yeah, mine arrived yesterday too! It's not perfect; mine seems to struggle to focus when zoomed in all the way, and I still can't get manual mode to work properly (although I'm probably at fault for that), but I'm otherwise very impressed!
