Thanks for the post. This in on my daughters xmas list. Did not know that Amazon sold contract phones so one to watch. Heat added.
If you choose the o2 tarrif option is the phone sim free unlocked direct from amazon or is it a o2 locked version? €
yes i believe they are all unlocked
What does the amazon discount code of MUSICTEC10 do if the phone is free anyway on contract? Does it give you a refund or amazon credit of £10?

I did not add that voucher or use it when I placed the order. Not sure how it's there.
A great deal for this phone IMO. To put it in perspective, it is the same tariff for the Note 4 or the S6 which are in the £340 - £360 range sim free. The Edge+ is £550 or so sim-free.

Not sure why this is so cold. Probably because of the 1GB data allowance. Suits me fine as I'm mostly on Wifi.

The next best deal with mobiles.co.uk is £20 more and you need to pay up front but it still got 200+ heat. This deal is cheaper - but cold. I guess not everyone is looking at the S6 edge plus.
Nothing wrong with this deal. Been waiting a while for such a good deal on this phone. 1GB is enough for me too. Just received mine today. Thanks Op.

Mine came too

I called Vodafone to get my PAC code and they offered me this same phone with no up front cost with 3gb for £30 p/m. If they offered me this the first time I called to upgrade I would have definitely considered, but I can not be asked to deal with cooling of periods/return. Moral of the story: Always ask for the PAC code before placing an order for a new phone with a new provider.
Great deal indeed. I am also at a loss why this deal is cold.
When yours arrived anyone who bought it did yours come with an empty battery as 1%?

I'm suspicious as whether this was a returned item repackaged as new by samsung and then bought by amazon as 2nd grade new stock. Reason im suspicious is that usually phones are shipped with 40% battery as when they are left on shelf in storage battery drains slightly and lithium ion loses capacity if stored under 20% as it puts stress on the ions. Basically mine was manufactured in august and it's unlikely to drain 40% in 3 months.

I use an app called samsung info which tells me how many times headset and charge port havr been used i test this with every new samsung device i get. The headset count was 4 that's ok. But the charge count was 8. Meaning it has been charged 7 times before it got to me. I know during testing you will get a count but 7 is a bit high. Under 5 is normal.

Thing is it's hassle returning phones to amazon to swap for a diff colour.

Im just curious if you who have bought it did your battery come with only 1%?

I was suspicious as well to be honest. Firstly, the seal had another placed ontop of it. There was a finger print on the sleeve of the phone and a sticker attached on the back of the headset.

I'm surprised Amazon would not have stated it as second grade. I didn't think to pursue a return as the phone and all other accessories were sealed and working fine.

My battery was also at 1%.
Ah so im not alone then. Maybe in that case all of the stock we have got were 2nd grade 'new' stock which is plausible given how much amazon are selling it for.. if we were to go to carphone warehouse their stock would be manufactured in the past month or so depending how quickly they sold out.

I feel better you have exact same situation as mine but that doesn't necessarily prove it's new or 2nd grade new. I had a double sticker too i think it's for double tampering. What im unsure is whether the sticker underneath was already ripped before i ripped it. Fingerprint mark isnt an issue it could have been done in the factory while packing the device by hand but it is suspicious.

The fact you also have 1% tells me it wasn't a one off so we are unlucky or everyones is like that. Did you have any lag while scrolling in browser or unresponsive back and menu buttons? I had a few freezing issues but i think it's more 5.1.1 than hardware. All i care about is the hardware is working perfect. Download the samsung info app and check how many times yours has been charged minus the number you have charged it pls.

Im suspicious that these may have been returned phones back to samsung who have tested it and found they are fine repackaged relabelled same imei etc and resold as new. It's hard for us to know how samsung and amazon deal with stuff like this. The past 2 things i bought from amazon were either faulty or no retail packaging but didn't state.

Also my box had a dent on the side like it been scuffed and also black mark running across the middle (warehouse damage as opposed to dropping i hope)

But the 1% has made me feel better i just need to ask someone who has bought s6 edge plus elsewhere made at same time and whether they had 1% battery.
Hi have any of you experienced a strange problem after taking a photo? When i take a pic then view it but exit the camera app everything goes blurry then it exits. Is it the same for you who have bought it?
I have received my phone today and I can confirm it came with 39% charge and the single safety sticker was intact. There were no suspicious finger prints or any other evidence to suggest that the phone is 2nd grade. I have purchased the O2 £27.50 contract, and I can also confirm that the phone is unlocked, OEM and came from Amazon (not O2) and it is not O2 branded in any way.
@happyjoyjo, the phenomena you have explained I think is a feature of the phone, the camera works fine and can view the photos without an issue but indeed, at the time of closing the camera app, the screen goes blurry just before it exits. I am very happy with the purchase and this has to be an excellent deal. I still can't think of a reason why this deal is cold.

I gave the phone to the Mrs and didn't really look further into this. She is happy with the phone and there has been no problems so far.

I am happy with my current S5. Ive rooted it and got the latest 5.1.1 andriod with the edge feature any way
Kaushal could i ask what colour did you get? I noticed the black in limited numbers but stock was replenished the next day meaning it was a newer batch. Also when did you order the device? Because of black friday i imagine they sold a lot and given myself and kabz bought ours before black fri i suspect it is a diff batch to yours.

Do you mind downloading the samsung info app from the play store? It tells you when and where yours is manufactured. Because mine and kabz were both 1% battery double stickered as in if you look closely there should be another smaller sticker underneath if you look at it in the light. Report back please. Also the number of headset and charge counts i suspect yours will be less than 5 for both minus the number of times you hsve plugged it in.

Im pretty annoyed that mine did not come with 40% battery as it should but it is possible that either a)mine and kabz were 2nd grade 'new' devices resealed by samsung and sold to amazon as new. Or b)as part of the same batch made in the factory and not charged up as it should.

Who knows samsung practises. The fact we had a double tamper sticker is suspicious also can you confirm in the imei sticker there is another small one on top covering the top barcode? I suspect that it is amazons own sticker barcode as they need to scan items.

I speculate mine and kabz were both gold 32gb from the same batch it august. Both had 1% battery which is suspicious as surely 1 might have 2% or 5% if used. I'd be surprised that the phone cuts out at 1% and stays like that in storage on both our devices and still turns on unless there is a cut off switch that allows it too.
Tbh my grievance is thst there was not 40% battery in it from the starrt esp since battery cant be removed and replaced easily meaning at 1% or below 20% in storage since august the overall capacity is affected ie my total capcity from start ions wise is 90% of yours kaushal if that makes sense.

It's all very suspicious indeed. I wouldnt be surprised that because me and kabz ordered ours earlier amazon will try to shift older stock before newer stock snd we were unlucky to get the same suspicious batch.

Kaushal was yours the black version?

Im tempted to get amazon to replace mine but i cant guarantee it wont be part of same batch. Mine seems in good condition im just suspicious about the battery at 1% and the double tamper sticker. I did not check if the tamper sticker underneath was already ripped.

Shame on samsung for sending out returned phones as new and repackaged.

gangysss, Mine is gold 32GB and I ordered it on 27th November. When I had a closer look at the tamper sticker, I could see a second sticker underneath (of similar size but the two stickers are perfectly aligned but there is no indication of tampering the first sticker that I could see). The IMEI sticker (on the box) is intact and I cannot see a second sticker placed on it. Both barcodes (I think for the serial number and the IMEI number) are clearly visible.
I downloaded the Samsung info app, and headset count is 3 and the charging count is 8 (I have charged the phone 2 times hence the original value should have been 6).
I can understand your frustration and please let me know if I can be of any further help.

P.S.: Actually, while charging for the second time, I have disconnected the phone once to shift the socket, hence the actual original charge count could have been 5.

And the manufacturing date is 14th October
Kaushal ok i see what's happened my one was from the same batch as kabs ours was exact same given the 1% issue. The extra sticker on top of the imei sticker is at the top 3 diff barcodes but it sounds like yours doesnt have 1 which might be significant.

You ordered black friday so lot of sales since when i bought on 25th. I bought it early to avoid the black fri rush which i regret now as i woulda got a newer manufacturing date but more importantly that the battery would be 40%.

This is annoying as im bothered by the fact it has been sutting on the shelf for 3 months at 1% killing my overall battery capacity (even just a few days at 1% puts the battery under stress)

Im reluctant to swap it for a new one in case that has hardware issues as this 1 seems decent. Samsungs quality control is poor ie either screen buttons camera etc are never perfect model to model even tho they should be so unless i get a hardware fault I'll swap it within 30 days.

I just don't trust amazon or samsung now.

The thing is im more confident if i did swap it I'll get one from your newer batch made lasts month as i reck amazon shift old stock first even of same item.

I dont want to go thru the hassle of swapping it cos sods law says I'll end up with 1 worse than one I've got now. If it's not broke dont fix as they say.

I really should exchange it but we'll see. I speculate for def that the extra barcode stuck on top of the imei serial number bit is a cause of concern it's like they are tryna hide the original barcode above the serial number.
Could you check if anywhere in your box or in top of it there's a barcode thin sticker that atarts with 8?

I assume amazon wouldnt use samsungs codes to scan items but their own to keep track of stock.

Im just very annoyed now.
gangysss, I have checked the box, the only sticker which contains a number starts with 8 is the one which contains the IMEI number. On that sticker, at the top is a number (and a barcode) starts with 8 (8 806XXX XXXXXX) and in the middle the IMEI number + the barcode and and the bottom the text "COLOR:Gold Platinum". Hope this helps.
Kaushal can i ask do you know which fulfillment centre yours came from? I don't know where you're based in uk but mine came from Peterborough then went to hemel Hempstead then got delivered.

Im hoping because of black friday etc and low stock levels saying 3-4 now that the new 1 will be like yours and either charged to 40% or one from October manufactured. Ideally I'd rather one from august cos the firmware will be the 2nd version not the latest as i was getting sleep of 98% very little wakelocks.

But from what i read on lithium ion tech that if the voltage drops below 2.5V and stored for days weeks months it causes stress and increased self discharge in the battery but i wont see this till later on and it's not possible to swap for a new 1 after that.

I just hope the replacement has no hardware issues like camera, buttons, screen etc

Samsungs quality control is really abysmal i anticipate I'll have some other issue after this
Gangys, how do I check the details of the fulfilment centre? Mine delivered from a carrier facility at Warrington.
Edited by: "kaushal" 29th Nov 2015
Kaushal im not sure it shows up on your track package bit but it doesn't matter now

I wanted to ask on your model did the tamper sticker say european model sim card only?

My original one was a samsung branded tamper seal but this 1 has no samsung branded tamper seal.. it's all very suspicious i dont know what amazon are playing at.

I dont know if this is a new item or a refurb as the tamper sticker should really be a samsung one. And underneath the sticker is not another small one but 1 same size but when i try to peel the top one off to read the info on the 2nd ut rips.

I just very suspicious because the returned item came from amazons returns centre in fife im not sure whether this is a refurb repackaged as new.

It's highly possible that as a European model it has a different sticker than a uk 1 yet i have a uk plug inside and the firmware is uk and the phone info seems to check out.

Manufactured in Oct like yours.

Can anyone else confirm on here whether they received one which said european sim card only as their tamper sticker?

The fact it is not a samsung branded sticker is very confusing and suspicious
Gangys, indeed, the tamper sticker says "European SIM card only". Mine also has got a same size sticker underneath, and now it seems you have got a phone exactly as mine. Within the Samsung Info app there is an option for you to check whether the phone is brand new or refurbished. Mine says brand new
Just noticed, the tariff has gone up to £36.00 now. It was a good deal while it lasted.
Kaushal i guess i can rest easy then lol i just need to check it for hardware issues as the original was pretty much perfect barvthe 1% battery issue. I wish i installed a battery app prior to charging so i could tell what milivolt the battery was on at 1% then there wouldn't need to be a need to exchange. As mine came with 14% but this time it read 3700mv which is usually 30% meaning the battery has a calibration issue which is minor misreading.

Interestingly i think mine and yours came from the same factory and my original and kabs came from same likewise.

It's worth noting on my 1st 1 made in august the power and volume keys were very stiff like you had to press harder than previous samsung phones whereas the new 1 the buttons are a bit softer i suspect early buyers complained and they made adjustments accordingly in new batch.

Also on your box you mentioned it has just 2 lines and colour no serial number. Interestingly all products from samsung usually have the RG serial number imei and barcide number at top so in total 4 lines including the colour. I feel more reassured that yours is the same but the lack of branding on the tamper sticker did yours not have samsung written on the tamper stickrr?

Yours definitely is new because yours didnt come from the returns depot like mine did but i think the factory it was made just didnt use the same tamper stickers.

I've tried cross referencing the imei and serial to check but tbh unless motherboard has been changed the serial number is same.

Because yours is exact same as mine i can rest easy. Let's just hope there's no hardware issues. I haven't tested it out yet. Factory restoring is such a pain
Mine didn't have any branding on the tamper sticker Gangys, and so far I am happy with the product. Fingers crossed there won't be any issues.
