Im not so sure; what would you really use it for?

You can pick them up pretty cheap from eBay these days:

ebay.co.uk/itm…388?hash=item2126f5eabc:g:h9UAAOSwaEhZHpO5

Also smartphone company gives £30 quidco cashback.

....I'm swaying towards just the free handset approach

Heated by the way Op. Nice to see the deals for the Edge are improving at last

Looks a good deal. Have been waiting for the S7E to come down in price, but doesn't seem to be happening very quickly! £20 quidco too, maybe?

yes to can but not for 10.00 delivered. just my opinion.

A little update from me; so I actually went with a similar deal on the EE network (unlim minutes, texts and 5GB data) for the S7 Edge in Coral Blue. Took this from Mobilephonesdirect for £27.99 with no upfront handset cost. It's arrived today and looks pretty decent.

I had to take out a new EE contract in the end as even though I had requested a PAC code from EE in order to migrate the SIM (was considering moving to 3 Mobile - then changed my mind) I had no joy from EE customer services in regards to any retention offers. Their final "best deal" was to offer me the handset for free ( discounting by £499 apparently) but I'd have to pay £32.99/m - £5.00/m more than I could get from MPD.

The only hassle of course is preserving the original mobile number. To achieve this I have had to port my number over to giffgaff and I'll then be looking at some point to port the number back to EE to replace the new mobile number of this new EE contract.

It's a bit of a ball-ache I concede but it's massively cheaper than just going with the EE upgrade. I'll report back once I've managed to port the number back and I'll advise how that went
