Please stay well clear of Very. They are just waste of time and money. Order samsung note and it took 6 month to close my account and no phone. Shamful customer service

I'm scared to vote any Samsung phone hot.

Samsung have issued a firmware update that locks the "Bixby" (Their Alexa or Google Home) button on this phone, so it cannot be bound to other apps.
Disappointing, since Bixby doesn't work in the UK yet.

Because any idiot can post the best deals ever by just saying "open a new credit account at Very...."

Very also give out 20% discount vouchers to their existing customers. The deal posted is no different really to the random tesco in store offers which don't apply to everyone.

I am not voting hot because to me the S7 and S8 are ridiculously over priced. Top end phones should be around the £400/£500 range because in reality that is all they are worth but Samsung know that people must have their latest offering. I don't care if it's because they technology is miniature compared to a laptop or TV. They are over priced. Simple, and that is why all these deals are cold and will be until such time as the majority of us think it's a fair price to pay and not because the deal posted is the cheapest available today. The fact remains it's too much to pay.

Very customer service is very bad in my experience also, and that's not buying with credit that's when buying something outright with a debit card (furniture)

Can you quantify your comment with proof? Do you know how much R&D goes in to making phones of this standard? You cannot base your price on how much the hardware costs. Phones of this nature are serious pieces of kit and should not cost £400 to £500 because you end up with a ONE Plus.. which I might add is a great phone.. But it is nowhere near being a top end Galaxy or iPhone!

I have a One Plus just for the record!

No, but then neither can you. Nobody will know the true answer unless they work for Samsung. But what I can tell you is I work in manufacturing and the main part of my job is costing and marketing products for sale. A selling price is generated by a number of parameters. Raw material and component cost, design time, factory labour time to produce the item, delivery etc etc, basically all of the costs what it takes to manufacture the product. Then a key cost is added.....profit. Obviously the more you make the cheaper the product is as buying gains are better. Before we put a price to a product there is one last element we look at. What are the competition charging for a similar or even the same article. That is where we pitch our price. Too low and the competition will drop their price to suit. To high and our profits could suffer. Sometimes we will pitch a product high because we know it will sell. It's called if the market will stand it. You can always drop your price. It's very difficult to put it up unless raw material cost predicts the price must rise.

I work in a commercial environment but like with anything that has a price tag you need to look at the product and decide for yourself is it worth it. Personally where Samsung pitch their phones and tablets I don't think they are. There are other products on the market that will do the same or a similar job without looking at Apple. I have a macbook and understand the quality of Apple products and although I would buy another macbook I would not buy one of their phones. I just don't like the software compared to android. Yet the main use of my macbook would appear to be chatting on here lol and a basic chrome back or tablet can do that. However I like the mac so it's also down to individual choice and needs too. At the end of the day a phone is just that, a phone but don't get me wrong I like my tech and Samsung products too. I have had an S2, S4 but the S6 prices were just too high in 2015 and went for the LG G4 instead. Better phone in my opinion and has done well at a reasonable price when compared to the S6. That's the point I am trying to make. I doubt very much if Samsung need to sell this phone at this price, same as Apple. Point is they know they can get away with it, same as Dyson did with his vacuum cleaners. He moved his factory to Malaysia to save costs but did we see any benefit. No, because he knows from marketing statistics that people will still pay decent money for one of the best available but beware, Shark, Vax and the competition are catching up and if Samsung are not careful the same will happen with them too. Technology should be getting cheaper with phones as it has with other electronics but it's getting more expensive yet to most users there is probably no apparent difference to this years model when comparing it to last year, apart from the price. Everyone expected the S7 to drop but it hasn't. Why because marketing statistics will show Samsung that if they did that, then people like me who upgraded their phone in 2015 will go for an S7. Keep the older model price higher and it will push people to buy the newer phone which gives Samsung a better return on their design and manufacturing costs of the S8

Your points are fair and at least you can make a point based on prices but as you pointed out yourself your buying a Macbook at a significantly higher price even though a lower end laptop could perform the same job for you.

If your point is that a phone is just a phone then you could look at the lower end phones. For me and maybe a lot of other people I would rather buy an S8+ and a chromebook(cost roughly £140)(even though I paid £40 for mine off facebook it did stink of fags for about 3 weeks until I got all the smell off it) rather than buy a One Plus or an LG phone and an expensive laptop... its swings and roundabouts but I don't think you can comment about the phone not being worth what your paying when you pay over the odds on your laptop.

The S8 does not compare to the cost of an LG G4.

Yes, you have some valid points also. My macbook is a 2009 model though !! It has done well and whilst it was used heavily for work related items it is now retired to basic surfing. I like the backlit keyboard which is very handy. My phone comparison was actually to the S6 and not the S8. LG has yet to launch it's G6 so a price comparison following launch may be interesting. I like a nice phone but it's key quality for me has to be how good the camera is. Nothing else as they all do the basic functions. I am not interested in using a phone for gaming or work related matters. It just needs to be a decent phone that takes high quality pictures. My S4 did that but the G4 is so much better and faster.

It really all comes down to personal taste, user requirements and cost. If you think the product is commercially worth it then that's fine. Buy it. We are all entitled to our own opinion. I am still wanting the S7 to come down in price but I always set myself a budget and tend not to go above. It needs to drop about £5.00 a month over 24 months and I'm in. Not too far to go now as my current provider have already offered me a retention deal. Just not quite enough yet.

I agree to an extent my issue is that the lower end phones do suffer from the build quality and also just how the phone feels in your hand.. The S7 is a lush phone and I would love to buy that.. but I was a Note 7 pre-order person and I still struggle with the smaller screen. The S8+ is perfect for me and will happily replace my One Plus 3 as I just dont feel the phone is as good as some people will say it is.

The photos it takes are awful and is the main reason id like to replace it.

The Chinese are very good at re-producing all sorts of items but I agree, they tend to miss out one of the most important factors.....quality. I work in a market which produces quality items but there are a lot of people out there on a low budget and will just go for cheapness. No doubt low priced items will always outsell high build quality products. You only need to look at how much heat supermarket tv's get on here. The last tv I bought from a supermarket was in fact a Samsung but after buying a turkish brand from Currys there's no way such an item would end up in my living room so I also see your point too. My network provider recently offered me an S7, decent deal I must add but it's no good. I am used to a 5.5" screen now and anything less just won't do. Just thinking about low end products and about three years or so ago my wife was in desperate need for a phone and she got a Moto G. It was about £120.00 I think and to be honest it wasn't a bad phone. It did everything on about an ok level but it wasn't half bad. Considering at the time high end phones were about four times that cost I wouldn't say they were four times as good. She was however extremely grateful when I gave her my old S4. With all of these things it's about personal choice and budget and perhaps if I was a high flying exec or a person with no other responsibilities then paying out £700 or so for a phone wouldn't be an issue.

Just to make you aware, I've got off the phone to very as my phone hasn't been delivered yet. Apparently, there's been a fire at the supplier and they have to send mine out tomorrow from a different location. Apparently I will be receiving an email this evening with a delivery time.

The only fire I can find from research is this;

Could be a lot of people not receiving theirs today... or even at all.

I feel for ya, I know some people just randomly had their S8 orders cancelled from Very. I haven't used them since had to deal with them last year for the S7E.

Just avoid them in future, they have tempting prices but they have frustrating issues, in the end, its just better to pay a little more and have piece of mind

Just got my e-mail so I checked the tracking. Received at Royal Mail today at 16:22 and dispatched at 18:31... They may have been feeding me some BS and using the fire as an excuse for non delivery, as that was at Yodel/Arrow XL.
