This is a fabulous telly and far better from a value and picture quality point of view than Sammy's new LED tv's

Can't argue with a Samsung always reliable, heat added.

Along with the Sony 5500 this is a TV i'm thinking about buying. Good price, hot.
Just wondering if it may come down more in price after Christmas.

Can't decide between the two. This is the newer model but the one at richer sound is cheaper, and currys want over £180 for a warranty, richer sound is only 10%.

LOL.

I'd buy a ticket.

The 530 isn't an older model, it's just from a different series from Samsung their 5 vs 6 series. The 6 series is a higher spec TV than the 5 series.

- it's the A/B in the model which indicates the year.... as these are both Bs, then they are both this years models, it's just the 620R is from their 6 series range, and the 530 is part of the 5 series range.

the 620 should beat the 530 hands down

Very very tempted! :w00t:

£15.64 qquidco making this £505.91!

The only thing that puts me off buying from the likes of currys/comet/pc world is the huge amount they charge for an extended warranty.

I've had a few things break just outside the manufacturers warranty so with a big purchase like this, I want the extra cover. Still, it is tempting...

I agree with you completely - I had a Samsung plasma, that went wrong and it was still, luckily, 2 weeks inside the year warranty - for that reason, I'd prefer and be tempted to go somewhere with a 5 year warranty. I'd factor in the cost of the 5 year warranty, and then around at the TV prices at places that include it for free or cheaper - ie, John Lewis, Costco, Richer Sounds, and then make my decision and buy one based on who's cheapest..

Don't forget - if you can find an independent retailer with a good price on a Samsung LED TV and a 5 year warranty, Samsung is offering £100 cash back on more eco friendly LEDs (as opposed to plasma / LCD) (for the 6 series £100, £150 on the 7 series, and £200 on the 8 series), which you can factor into the overall price.

Just my two pence :-D

The LED's are stupidly expensive though aren't they?

My budget is £500, could stretch a little, but not much and I need the warranty with that too. Sadly don't have a costco card, so that basically leaves richer sound and JL, doesn't it?

Are there any other shops that offer a decent priced or free 5 year warranty?

Is this similar to the 650/1 Samsung? But with a few features missing. Does anyone have any clesu as to gaming Lag and how this Tv fares? Need a TV for the nipper and his soon to be delivered Wii(by santa)

Hi HD'ers,

My mate has just bought this telly this morning (from PC World @ £550 - lol) but I was looking into the Media Play (USB) situation.

Firstly, I couldn't find the model on the Samsung site (a bit worrying) but under the support section I found that manual and firmware updates ]here and its pretty obvious from the manual that it only supports Music and Photo out of the box.

Anyway, there is an ongoing ]AV Forums thread about the B550 being firmware hackable to playback avi and mkv and on this ]PDF it clearly shows that the B55* and the B62* range share the same firmware update file (T-CHL5DEUC.exe) so kinda hoping someone might be able to take all this information and see if the hack works so I can replicate it on my mates set.

If it was mine I woud just try it, but its not.

Hope my hours work helps someone, and would love the feedback if anyone attempts to try it

how much is the 46inch, i can t find it

The code works for all Tvs over £300 if this one isn't the TV for you.

Does anybody know if it's an online code only? I have a voucher to use in store only, but wouldn't mind getting this 5% off as well! But don't know if I can claim it instore :s

Can get the LG 42" 1080p from Comet for £549. Cold from me.

£498 with quidco!

can anyone see the 46 inch version?

Has anyone connected this to their PC? Can they tell me what the picture quality is like (I'm particularly interested to see if it does 1:1 pixel mapping... text just doesn't look the same without it).

Also, is it an IPS-type screen or the cheaper TN screen? I need a new monitor to use with Photoshop and TN screens aren't as good.

Shame, what would the chances of going in store and seeing if they would honour? It saves them money if I were to collect over delivery!

whats the difference between DNIe+ and SAMSUNG Crystal FHD Engine (as seen on the 653).

I've run across some online retailers that have a 5 year warranty chucked in - but I've never used them, so I can't comment on their reliability... hispek.com is one of them that I can remember that throws it in for free, I can't remember if it's across all their TVs for just certain models, but maybe worth a look.

I have the older version of this tv (LE40A656) and use it purely as a PC monitor for the person who was asking. It's fantastic and does 1:1 pixel mapping. Gaming lag on the above mentioned model is 60ms in normal mode and 30ms in game or PC mode. I experience no noticable lag using the VGA port. My girlfriend needs a new TV for christmas and i think this is it.

I have this telly and it is lovely.

I ordered this TV on Friday night and used the voucher and quidco, awesome price.

I also have a 32" LG LCD thats about 4 years old now and I have to say the picture on that is incredible, its far better than a lot of other LCDs ive seen, samsung being one of them...

The price on this keeps alternating between £549.99 and £599.99

it'll probably be a PVA panel; the series 6 panels are very good, and the samsung electronics do a very good job of scaling and interpreting 24p and NTSC modes - as far as I can tell they're better than any others.

am sorely tempted by this, I was seriously considering the 40B65x or 40B68x, to use with my PS3, so I'm not too fussed by the lack of freeSat HD or forthcoming freeviewHD - since I'd want DVR functions which are very rare in a TV anyway!

I just placed an order, my first new TV in 10 years (it'll replace the 32" Wega Flat glass tube I bought from letsbuyit.com for about £950). Wife is pleased to as the old TV is a pretty big monster!!!

thanks for posting this. the saving will go nicely towards the humax freesat DVR!
