Warm, Tower Park.

I'm not voting either way - it's a great price, but you bought the only two that were left in the unnamed store... if this is national, it's scorching. If you got uber-lucky and bought the only two, then it's hardly a deal...

Unnamed store? It's in the comment above you..... From what I know this should be nationwide as it is not RDC and had nothing to say it's in a sale....

They were priced at £40 in my local last night as I choked at it when comparing with the £20 I had paid. will look again on the way home later.

It wasn't in the comment above me when I started typing!

Tesco are (in)famous for very store specific deals, which leads to a wild goose chase because some lucky folk, like you, stumble on a great deal.

I'll check my local later when I'm passing, but I suspect this will be very store specific.

I bought this full price a while back.. worked a treat for my laptop which had a faulty DVD drive. Cheaper than getting it repaired! Heat.

When I was looking for a portable writer I did notice many refurbs of this model on ebay but at this price it's a safe bet - heat added.

Release the Geese!!!

Banned

Tesco deal. Don't even bother looking, more chance of finding Bigfoot.

Op, Any chance of getting us the barcode number?

I have this drive, and it looks and works great. Can't decide about voting it hot yet -- great price, but if it's store specific (was, as you took both), then not really a deal. Might come back to give you some heat, but great find.

£40 in the store near me. Cold.

Could this one writes to BlueRay DVD ??

Thanks

I got mine for £20 from Dabs a while ago so hot from me!
Mac compatible if anyone's wondering.

Any way to force this to work with an android tab?

Not national, typical Tesco deal, therefore not voting. WTG to whomever gets one.

NO

Release the Geese!

An in-store deal for Tesco's finest Geese burgers would go down very well here!

another Tesco liar

Do you realise Blu Ray and DVD are different technologies? Like CD is different from DVD. Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if you could copy a Blu Ray onto a CD!!

I am aware they are different. But I found that they are backward compatible.
DVD writer could be used to write/burn CD write
Blue Ray writer could also be used to write/ burn DVD here for instance
amazon.co.uk/Sam…ter

That is actually what I am asking whether this one Blue Ray/DVD Writer r just DVD writer ?

This will defiantly play CD's and more than likely also burn them. (Will not either play or burn blu ray though)
As for £20 rrp! lol, you can buy a decent USB 6x Blu ray reader / DVD/CD Burner combi off ebay for £20<

Has anyone else found one at £6.99? I checked 3 stores in Liverpool before on the way home and they all scanned at £40. If someone could get 1 for me and post it I would pay £12 and would greatly appreciate it!

It is not available in my Local Tesco Extra in London ....

.............. another wild goose chase. X)

I have attached a picture of my receipt as I hope this will help some people get one. I don't appreciate being called a liar and feel I have been around to gain trust in the HUKD community.

I'm sure people don't think you are a liar, it's just that these deals are hard to find, and can be available in just the one store more often than not, which is why it is a wild goose chase.

You hit lucky and got a bargain - don't feel negative about that.. It's why we are here after all!

Don't expect a netbook to power this up though!! I returned mine a while ago as my acer Ferrari netbook (fastest netbook at the time) and a dell 1011 wouldn't power it up

why did you add a pic?

There are some right muptards on here who instantly don't believe you - as Mrs Brown would say just tell them to "feck off"

See avatar for details on store specific moaners who just sit at their computer, rather than going looking for the deals! A few times I've seen comments like wild goose chase, expired deals etc, and gone out and found unbelievable deals. You snooze you lose.

@rew632 no one likes being called a liar, especially on the net. Anwyays the main problem is that some tesco staff have posted tesco deals in the past and also as others have mentioned it can be only one or two stores only. Same thing has happened with the dsg group .

If anyone has called you a liar then just ignore them.

Personally, if I am posting a decent deal like this, I'll upload relevant proof at the time of posting the deal or soon thereafter - tends to take the wind out of moaners sails so to speak.

However, some people on here will whinge no matter what so best to ignore them.

Anyway, back to this deal - I could really have done with this drive today as I need to re-install the OS on a spare laptop and the drive I had with it isn't working. However, my local store (Slough) still has this marked up and scanning at £40.

Regardless, great deal and heat given.

It's got nothing to do with 'moaners who just sit at their computer' - from what I can see, the OP is the *only* person to find this, and (s)he bought both. If others find it, then great, but it needs to be validated as a deal in more than one store (which is now out of stock!) before it's hot to *anybody else*.

I'm not knocking the OP - and calling them a liar is way below the belt and childish. I just fail to see how this got to 300+ degrees when, from what I can see, no-one else has been able to find it?!?
