The Samsung SM2032MW is the perfect monitor/analogue TV combo.

With a super fast response time of 5ms and an intense pixel resolution of 1680 x 1050 this Samsung LCD is perfectly suited to gaming and TV alike.

Given its dual role in life, you'd expect this 20" Samsung HD LCD to be well equipped with sockets, and that's exactly what it is. For PC sources there's a choice of analogue VGA, DVI and, of course HDMI. The latter two work equally for video sources, while other sources are catered for by the component, S-Video, SCART and composite inputs. In short, there's not much that can't be connected to the 2032!

In addition to its supreme flexibility, this 20 inch LCD TV is also something of a looker. With its high gloss black finish and typically soft edges, the SM2032MW is sleek and sexy and makes most other 20" screens look positively crude by comparison. With a depth of just 7cm, this Samsung 20" LCD is also one of the slimmest TVs on the market.

Finally, just to make the Samsung SM2032MW even more compelling, the power consumption is one of the lowest in its class. At just 45 watts, the Samsung LCD uses less power than the majority of light bulbs. Bright thinking from Samsung!

I thank you for pointing out the original deal, but you should only repost after a month.

The old deal isn't expired, so a bump would have been fine.

I have this TV btw, works awesome with sky HD

yeah no probs - a good deal's a good deal.

Just reposts make the site messy etc, best to bump. It gets a bit grey when the old deal is expired though etc.

i'm in the market for a tv/monitor combination also....

there is a samsung 23" tv/monitor which has these specs:

Samsung SM2333HD 23" FUll HD Ready LCD TV/Monitor Freeview 1920x1080 1080p 10000:1 300cd/m2 5ms DVI/VGA/HDMI Wall mountable Gloss Black 3 Years Warranty going for £250

is the above model any good for this price?

there is also this one for £200:

LG M227WD 22" Monitor/TV Freeview 1920x1080 1000:1 300cd/m2 5ms 16:9 2xHDMI/VGA/DVI W/Mount Glossy Black

which one do you think is better, the samsung in the original deal (the 19") or the 23" samsung for £250 with 3 year gaurantee, or the LG 19"?

How good are these things at doing both jobs, a tv and a monitor?, i only wanted a good quality small tv for my bedroom to watch freeview/sky and play ps3 but if it can be a monitor aswell thats very handy as a back up for the future! But if it does niether job very good then id prefer just to go for a tv, as thats what i really need...

Do we lose any functionality/quality on either side by going for a tv/monitor type package?

Sorry for all the question, any help is much appreciated!

Samsung SM2333HD
LG M227WD 22" Monitor/TV Freeview

I'm waiting on both of these dropping by about £50.

If cdiscount put the sammy on at £199 with some cashback deal - I'd have it.

Knock around £30-£40 off the LG, and I'd get that.

I want 1920 with built in freeview, on a small screen (22max, but would stretch to 23 if needed)

thanks mate

what is 1920? and why is that important, does the 23" samsung i posted not have this feature then?

i have heard the original samsung posted in this deal is 16:10 where as the one i put up is 16:9, and i've been told 16:9 is better for tv viewing. People have said you have more issues with the 19" samsung watchign freeview or sky tv etc.....

if you could stretch your budget but obviously still didnt really want to pay £250 what would you suggest?

im so tempted in the 23" samsung, a) becuase its samsung b) because it has a 3 year gaurnatee......am i barking up the wrong tree and are these two things that really dont matter?!

thanks mate

Depends really....

possibly the LG as I have this samsung, which id make my pc monitor, and would cause issues with my remotes!

the sammy is better tho. 1920 = hd res!

thanks

you seem to know alot about these things mate, and i really want to order a tv today....

do you think the 23" is worth the extra £100, with the three year gaurantee? but If the 19" does the job and allows me to watch freeview/sky and play ps3 then im happy.....i guess im after more of a tv than a monitor, and obviously if i could save myself £100 by buying the 19" then id love to do that....

but if its a case of spend £100 more and get a MUCH better tv with a three year gaurnatee then thats what i will do...

what would you do? is it even worth waiting and seeing if these or anythign else drops more?

thanks for the help!

Which 19 inch are you talking about?

The 2032 is 20 inch.

Its all about resolutions, over sizes for me personally. The higher the resolution the better (upto 1920 for tv viewing), and then within that, the smaller the screen size you are happy with the better.

Thats because the 1920 width pixels are spaced further apart on bigger screens. So a 20inch will look sharper than a 22 inch etc etc.

However, the samsung I *think* has a better quality panel than the LG. But dont quote me on that.

Confusingly the 2032mw listed here, only does 1680 x 1050, but DOES accept a 1920 hd input via HDMI - and looks bloody good for it!

As I said, I want a 1920x1200 monitor - and as small as possible - which should be the LG. I'm a bit concerned about LG quality though, So I'm most tempted by the23" samsung you mentioned before. That doesnt mean its the best for you though - because I specifically want a high res, small size screen.

sorry i was talking about the 20" from the thread title (richer sounds model) and trying to compare that to the 23" which i mentioned...

the 23" is 1920x1080p from what you have said im guessing thats very good for tv/freeview/sky/ps3?

Does alot of the picture sharpness depend how close/far you sit from the tv, because its your eyes that sometimes cant keep up with the images or sometimes your eyes pick up on slowness/ghosting?!

Also i wanted to ask how hard would it be to hook any of these tv's up to my existing pc, and run two monitors from one pc (is there like a double connector allowing this?) but then also use, for example, the samsung 23" as a tv but then at the push of a button, switch it to monitor mode and have it displaying whatever i am surfing.....is that achievable or do you have to un plug connections etc etc?

thanks for your help mate...

i have something similar setup. you need 2 outputs from your graphics card. I have an nvidia with 2 dvi ports. one goes to a cheapo phillips monitor I use for computer use, and this very samsung model. both are connected via DVI, as only the samsung is HDCP compatible (a DRM type thingy)

So in answer to your question - yes. However, your graphics card needs to outputs. there is no vga/dvi splitter as far as I'm aware.

Out of the 20 inch here, and the 23 inch 1920x1080 with freeview... I want the 23incher, because I've already got the 20inch! But is it worth £100 more, or not far off double? Probably not to be honest.

For what you want it for - the 20 inch is suitable, and I'm sure you'd be happy with it.

Connect your computer via DVI or VGA, PS3 via HDMI or VGA - but bare in mind there is no digital freeview tuner in the 20incher - analog only.

thanks for all your help mate!

i am going to plump for the 23" i think, with the extra 2 years gaurantee+ freeview and bigger screen i think it s a great deal!

thanks for all your advice, i really appreciated it!
