I have this monitor, it is excellent. I paid £199 at Argos back in May.

This is a bargain, but watch out this TV is only analogue and it doesn't have a HDMI port, still at the price it's a bargain. I sold my second hand one on ebay about a 2 months ago for more than this!

Nothing wrong with getting a DVI-D to HDMI cable

I think that's a great price.

The price is now 139.99

ADDED:
Whilst its an absolute bargain a little more browsing came up with these opinions, found ]here :

"Its good from a distance for tv usage. Nice colour, great sound, lots of settings you can play with. It does have that pixelated look of LCDs (I'm yet to see one that doesn't mind), but not bad from a distance.

Mine has quite a sensitive viewing angle, if I'm lower than the tv (ie in bed) the picture isn't half as good as if you're at the same angle as the tv."

and

"I'm conscious of saying it because there is nothing worse than having your purchases poopooed by people, but I bought one of these monitors from PC World as TV mainly but also as a monitor. I have to agree with the AVforums bunch, the viewing angle on this unit is very poor (also the screen is very shiny). Unless you are viewing perpendicular to the unit alot of the colour and brightness is lost (I am sure it would be a good monitor though). I'm not particularly fussy but mine went back as I could hardly see it when viewing from bed

Other points to note are that you can only have PIP when in monitor mode i.e. you can't have the PC taking 1/4 of the screen whilst watching TV (I know most peeps don't use this feature, but I do). Finally if you do regularly switch inputs it is a bit of a pain as the onscreen display takes a couple of seconds and there is no physical display (LEDs) to show what input you are on... you may be able to do this with the remote, but I never unpacked it to check... soz

On the plus side, it has good inputs, good res and response time. the remote looks quite nice (never used it) and it is quite light weight compared to others I have used."

Just remember the audio will be lost if using a DVI-D to HDMI connector, this is fine if your using a separate audio out lead from your source

Audio will most probably go into the little blue socket next to the DVI-D socket this is generally the case on many screens and is infact how my 32" LCD TV works using DVI-D to HDMI so makes it pretty easy to hook up an external source using RCA. But valid point

Excellent, been looking for a new TV/Monitor hybrid so very impressed, such a good brand for that price is great. Heat & Rep added!

Shows "Out of stock" and I have been told that there were so many people ordering them that the system couldnt keep up. They possibly may be getting more in stock within the next 2 weeks though (fingers crossed).

Has anyone else have ordering problems?

Hi, This is an excellent product. Tried to source one and they're now out of stock. eBuyer have taken over 300 orders for these today, Fri 3rd Aug by all accounts.

Damn ordered but got the out of stock thing, and because I paid through google checkout so I had to phone up to cancel. Their customer service is pretty good though, but took like 7 minutes to get to an actual person, as there were 15 calls ahead of me.

All change. I've now got a 9th August shipping date !
When I rang there were 12 calls ahead of me. I like ebuyers customer services call centre waiting information and the lady was very helpful.

I just expect that when I place an online order that the stock has been reserved for me ( assuming the payment goes through of course), otherwise the systems are not doing their job.

Hi, Homez99, Not sure if this applies to the order that you'd placed but I've had 'out of stock' e-mails from eBuyer on orders paid for using Google Checkout and in fairness to eBuyer the order has shipped regardless. Perhaps they found more stocks am not sure.

HTH.

Voted hot.

Oh no, Jazid is getting his order as seen above, I really didn't know about this! Too late now though, nevermind.

Check your order status - as there seems to be some sort of system delay happeneing. You might be lucky (crossed fingers for ya)

P.s. Full list of connections are available from Samsung's website ]here

Nah, as said above I canceled the order, thinking there was no stock, which is what was actually told to me by the system.

i ordered and paid for this on friday morning, got it today even though i had selected the freebie delivery (not due until this friday!)

is this hd ready?

I got mine yesterday as well but I'm very pleased with it. I wanted mine for the kitchen (to replace an old but working 14" portable) and, like you, mine appeared not to work, either as an analogue TV or through a Freeview box.

I've got a Labgear MSA282 8-way distribution amplifier up in the loft that should be boosting all my TV outlets to 8db so I didn't think that was the problem. However, as an experiment, I tried the new TV on the outlet in the living room (which is running a Freeview box linked to an old CRT Sony) and it worked perfectly!

I decided to cut back the kitchen coax cable in the loft and install a new connector. After I'd done that, everything worked!

I know you need a good aerial and good cabling to get Freeview and I'm beginning to think that you need both in order for the Samsung to work properly. Obviously, if you're not even getting screen noise on the Samsung TV then you need to let ebuyer (not Samsung) know ASAP.

One last thing, I knew (from Jazid's post on the 3rd) that the vertical viewing angle was crucial and worried about that. ... and it's true, you need to be dead level with the screen. You CAN tilt the screen back if your head is above the TV but not if you're below it (as I would be sitting at the kitchen table). Putting a very thin book under the stand (at the back) cured that problem.

Other than that, it's excellent and was really very good value for money.

Mine came yesterday as well. Really bad picture on analogue. Then I got a red vertical line down the left handside and then finally the picture crashed and it would not turn off.

Its going back to ebuyer tomorrow for a full refund.

I presume ebuyer have bought these in cheap and not even tested them.

Not a happy bunny, back to the old 14" crt until I find another good deal.

I bought the Samsung 940MW for both TV (which really does require a fairly strong signal) and for original Xbox (1) usage (which I cannot yet test), although I dont know how the strange dimensions of the screen and the Xbox will play together.

Well, mine has arrived and I tested it the TV and video last night. I first tried to tune in the television (as there was no Country menu option tochoose as described in the manual) - it picked up no channels.

My unit clearly arrived with a different country setting and so I had to change it, despite the TV having clearly already been used and returned by someone previously (batteries already in remote and ripped packaging of a previous despairing owner).

Alas, my unit has two slightly annoying black marks on the screen, as can be seen ]here to the left of the 4:3 dvd being shown. Its not _that_ noticeable but is if you look at the screen from a slight angle. Ive no idea what is causing it to be honest.

"**Please note this is a Grade A product and may come with a slightly … "**Please note this is a Grade A product and may come with a slightly damaged box. All contents should be present. Anyhow, its clearly not the A grade product Ebuyer advertised as the marks directly affect the screen, although at least my unit is working, unlike some of the other poor buyers who posted above.

I suspect my unit will probably also go back, although I might just ]take it apart and see if I can fix the problem if Im feeling brave.

So....
Before you give up on yours, you should check you have the correct country setup. Press Menu on the remote and select the bottom menu option (the image of the three sliders) and then select the AREA option and this will lead you through a few steps for configuring the TV for the UK.

If you feel the need to access the SERVICE MENU
Turn TV off, then on the remote press Info, Menu, Mute (the power light should flash), then turn it on.
As described ]here, you do so at your own risk.

Xbox 1 and HD TV compatibility can be found ]here (via ]this post), athough in this case of the 940mw the only useful settings are 480 and 16:9

Hope this post helps someone out.

after reading about Ebuyer on here & on the camcorder thread, i.e. selling used goods as new, would'nt touch them with a bargepole.

my tv arrived a couple of days ago - looked like somebody had tried to clean the screen with the inside of a crisp packet.

Anyway - I've tried tuning in the channels and they seem to be really weak - the aerial must be ok as if I hook up another TV to the same aerial the picture is OK

Have I got a duff TV or do I need to try something else....

See my post above. Try installing a new connector because, after I'd done that, everything worked!
