BULB ENERGY
"Bulb is 17% cheaper than Big Six standard deals
Our (one) tariff
We're not one for complicated tariffs. When things aren't simple, it's hard to keep track. So, we offer our members one, single tariff for electricity and gas. It's one of the lowest on the market, renewable or not. And we don't even charge exit fees.

How do we do this? We invest in technology to help us keep our costs low. And we only partner with companies that do the same. And honestly? We just make lower profits than our competitors. Then pass the savings on to you.

Our best idea? Listening to your ideas
Joining Bulb means joining a community that's at the heart of everything we do. Our members are a helpful bunch. They come up with some of our best ideas, spread the good will, and help us figure out where we're going next.

Because the best service comes from listening. Listening to what makes you happy, what could be better, and what you think we should do next.

Keeping on top of your energy
Life can be complicated. Your energy doesn't need to be. Your Bulb Account makes it easy for you to keep on top of your energy. Sign in online, or download the app. You can track your usage, submit meter readings and check your balance.

And it's not just about making things easier. On average, people use 10% less energy when they know how much they're using. So, understanding your usage could mean lower bills.

Need to talk? No problem
We want to make it easy for you when you do have a problem. Got a question? Stop by our Help Centre. There's lots of helpful information and support there. Or head over to the Bulb Community. Our members love to lend a hand whenever they can.

And if you'd rather just give us a call, please do. There are no robots or jingles here. Just one of our helpful, highly-trained Energy Specialists, based in our London office.

I am with Bulb and they do not force you to have a smart meter. I am not posting a referral link, but part of the bargain with Bulb is if you know a friend, or relation, who is on Bulb, and you don't want the hub and smart plugs, get the friend to refer you to Bulb and they and you get a £50 credit paid in to your accounts when you start with Bulb. There are no leaving charges if you leave before 12 months, and the price has always been competitive when I have checked, they will even pay the cancellation charge to the company you are leaving from if you decide to join them. I once phoned them to ask a question for a friend, and it took about 8 minutes to get through. On answering the phone, they were very apologetic, explaining why the call had taken so long to answer, and said they were employing more staff to prevent it happening again. A week later an email arrived telling me that I had been given a £10 credit to my account for their delay in answering the phone. Another friend had problems with the smart meter he had asked to be installed, and he was given a £20 credit for the inconvenience, it turned out that the smart meter problems are outside of Bulb's control, and are widespread amongst other companies. I am very happy with their service, their honesty, and their charges.
They Are not the cheapest
No company can force you to have a smart meter installed, and if you've got any sense you'll never have one fitted.
Bulb are useless, smart meter installed beginning of June, still not connected, not cheapest either

Was posted a few times in recent weeks and a pretty good offer. I switched and got my SmartThings items within less than a month of switching

I clicked on the link last time, and Bulb are switching me, but I've heard nothing of the Smart Hub from them....does it come automatically once you've switched? Cheers.
Good deal but gas rate is more than what Iam paying currently.
Damn really good deal but they quoted £27 p/m more than we currently pay!
I had my half working smart meter fitted last week, then spotted a sticker placed strategically out of the way, that was supposed to be signed by me (twice) indicating a tests had been done in my presence but the installer had forged my signature. Not pleased.

Same here, the smart meter never worked since day one and they don’t really care about fixing it either. It seems that my bill has gone up after the installation
I opted for smart meter no issue and work flawless

Got agree. I'm the same, had mine fitted in May and they have never worked. Bulb have been useless, I've reported them to the ombudsman and they have still failed to fix it by the date given by the ombudsman. If you read their Facebook page it looks like there are many others in the same situation
I wouldn't recommend Bulb. They used to be good but their customer service has gone right downhill recently, just read the comments on their Facebook page
Is their exit fees?
company is called BULB energy.
opts to give away smart plugs, not smart BULBS.
nice moves

They state there isn't any.

Keep inviting me to have a smart meter but they def aren't forcing me
Had been with Bulb for about a year, no problems with billing, never had to contact customer service. Perfectly fine for me.

But Scottish Power (who I have used before) recently had a deal where gas was 20%/unit cheaper. Electric was a tiny fraction more but overall they were still £120+/year cheaper than Bulb.

However good Bulb are £120 is better off in my pocket

They come with a very useful gadget that shows how much electric and gas you are using at any given point in the day which can be useful if you are watching the pennies. Also no more meter readings, it's all done remotely. If only bulb pulled their finger out and got my meter working, waiting 6 months now for it to be connected.

I'm sure the latest figure show that they do indeed save you just that - pennies. Are you going to turn off your telly when you realise what it's costing you. And it surely only takes once to realise you shouldn't be filing the kettle with 2 litres for one cup - common sense people!

Only an excuse to start charging 50p/kwh in peak hours - i.e. 4-7pm - Bulb already "offer" this tariff.

We will all end up on time of use tariffs. Those that dig their heals in and don't take a smart meter will just end up paying top dollar.

Must depend on the area then as I have been with them for 18 months now and haven't been approached once to have a smart meter installed (this is in London)

Research reveals the vast majority of customers place the In Home Displays, IHDs, into a kitchen drawer within a month or two. Speak to ppl that work in the Industry, it's a con, the government has pushed the mandate back by another 4 years, and energy companies have reduced smart energy engineers on their payroll. When they work it's all well and good, it's the pain customers have to confront when they go wrong that's the kick in the teeth. Inoperability between meter types, especially when switching causes more disruption.
sportyfae01/12/2019 22:41

Paranoia?

The fear of the possibility of progress. Widespread across the country.

The first versions were junk, but the 2nd gen ones are supposed to be better.

Smart meter could charge you for peak hours .I been with bulb don't have smart meter best company been with .cheap as
Bulb were good a few years back. My first year they we're offering £100 credit for referrals. Signed up 13 customers. So free utility for a year. Great year that was. Now their prices are way to high. Switched to Orbit, but Bulb were very good. Great customer service.

I’ve had multiple phone calls re smart meter and they wouldn’t take the the hint of no. I never want a smart meter and never will. I will find a way to avoid them at all costs. Plus family and friends who joined bulb have also jumped ship in recent months. There not as good as they use to be
