that controls the led light. look at reviews it scored really well, this is the drive im planning to buy just waiting for the price to drop even further.

Anyone know if it's got a fan inside?

Nice price !?, good find !

Just for your information, inside you will find Samsung's EcoGreen F2 drives 5400rpm with 32MB cache, low power consumption and cool running, slower then standard drives with 7200rpm though

internal EcoGreen disks are being sold for around £54 (1TB) and £75 (1.5T)

Thanks. Useful.

For an external hard drive, 5400RPM, cool running and lower power consumption probably trumps the slightly higher performance of a 7200RPM drive. If one wants performance, they should probably stick with internal SATA (or give up on spinning disks altogether but that's a different story).

Indeed, isn't the speed of USB 2.0 a bottleneck limiting the performance of these external drives? For me the important factor when it comes to speed is the spin up time from when the drive has put itself on standby due to inactivity, I don't know about anyone else but sometimes when waiting for a drive to spin up, explorer becomes unresponsive until the drive has actually got up to full speed.

This is out of stock now
