If you fancy one of those new Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ smartphones and have an old iPhone 4 or Samsung Galaxy S3 lying around in a drawer, Samsung are offering a trade in scheme where you can get the following:

Samsung Galaxy S8 - £533
Samsung Galaxy S8+/S8+ dual sim - £666

They offer a finance scheme, so you can pay £19.99 or £27.75 over 24 months on 0% finance .

It's a standard trade in value, so only really beneficial if you have an early smartphone which you can't be bothered to ebay because it's a low value. Obviously you can get more for a iPhone 7 or S7 elsewhere but it does have a monthly finance plan that some may find useful

When you add in the cost of roughly a tenner for a sim this deal the same as taking the phone over two years with mobiles.Co.UK.
So... the Samsung galaxy s7 edge, would fetch the same amount of money off the new S8 device, as s3? The deal is only decent if you have an s3 then, really? Where's the incentive for s7 owners to score even more money off?
Posted before. Not worth it
What if it turns on but the lcd is busted?
It doesn't state what version of Iphone can trade. I assume there must be a criteria. I have a Iphone 3G lying around..

  • iPhone trade-in criteria
  • Must be able to power up
  • Must be an iPhone 4 or newer
  • Must not be a blacklisted device **
It's a pretty good deal if you've got a old iPhone 4 with a cracked screen but still works!

Not really. A 4gb SIM only deal is around £9 a month for 12 months with 3. Tcb £40 at the moment so effectively £68 for 12 months. That's around £5.60 a month. £20 a month for the samsung s8 = £25.60 plus the £50 deposit. Plus you are only on a 12 month contract SIM only deal rather than stuck on a 2 year plan.

Best deal I could find on a samsung s8 phone contract deal with 4gb data is £27 a month with a £170 deposit at mobiles.co.uk.

Seems a good deal.

Heat added.

It's a shame they don't do this offer along with the note 8
Just tried with my s7 edge comes up too £24.97 a month for the s8 edge with £66.60 deposit

Yes, my thoughts as well. But, they do the dual sim 8+ which may be handy for some people

I took advantage of this scheme buying a iPhone 4 off eBay for a little under £15. When I received the S8 I also received a VR3 headset included which I have subsequently sold. Factoring all this, and TCB , I calculate that I have paid approximately £460 for the phone, a little over £19 pm and still have my S6 to sell. I also really like the phone.

If you want freedom you will never think twice and go for Android. You can root your phone and make it faster than it is. IPhone is good solid phones but you are restricted with their contents only.

hmm, pretty pointless test. How many people do you know would be making use of shooting a 4K video on a drone, exporting to a mobile device and then performing video editing on a mobile phone with a short video file.
Or buy from giffgaff without sending any iPhone, like it for people to see.

It’s an example of speed using an intensive stress test not a daily task. Highlights processing power etc
Is there a option to pay the balance of the phone in full?

I have. Mmmmm tempted
Stick on 3% quidco as well gives you over £15 off too
I was about to go with this earlier today as it is still live. I pay £8.50 per month to Plusnet (sim only deal on a monthly rolling contract) and in need of a new phone. The phones comes to £53 deposit and appx £20 monthly pay for 24 months.

£20 x 24 = £480, plus £53 = £533

I have a Galaxy S4 at home which is not used at all. However, £20 per month + £8.50, it ends up like a contact phone anyway.

It comes with a VR set. Buy you can buy the phone on Amazon, and still be able to claim the VR kit with it. So thinking about it, it is not a great deal, even if you have the spare unused S3 or S4, it is comparable if not any worse than a 24 month contract.
Can anyone confirm if they will accept a fully working iPhone with a smashed screen as the trade in?
