This is an excellent monitor, my workmate behind me is using it right now.

However it has been around this price before so not a fantastic deal but still a solid buy.

edit: in fact is is 1p cheaper on ebuyer

Does this have integrated speakers?

no sadly it does not.

Shame its not wall mountable - Good price though.

For an extra 1p I think I'd be trusting Amazon more than dabs etc.

I think you can wallmount it with Samsung Wallmount WMB1900T, there's an 'L' shape on the end that slots under were the stand goes.

is the screen matt or gloss

It's matte.
Bought this off Amazon last week, pleased so far, and they have agreed to refund the tenner difference : ) so thanks very much for pointing this out

Well that's another 130 quid down........:)

Why do people want to pay £130 for a 22 incher 1680x1050 when you can get a BenQ G2420HD 24” 1920x1080 which also adds HDMI for £148 delivered! Is the Samsung a Premium monitor or are people just seduced by the brand name? Just curious.

The biggest and most important difference is the contrast ratio. On the BenQ G2420HD, it is 1000:1, while on the Samsung it is 20000:1.

For a monitor 1,000:1 sounds good to me and 20,000:1 is a dynamic contrast figure which is fairly meaningless for a monitor.

Added: The dynamic value for the BenQ is 40,000:1 not that I think that makes it any better - benq.co.uk/pro…098

Brilliant!! i wish i had one. 1920 x 1080 shrunk to 22 inches is better than 24 inches in my view, people might see it differently. also HDMI can be connected to a DVI port so this becomes a good TV if you have a V+ or a Sky+ box
the response time of 2ms makes this better.

Another thing, the response time is also 2ms on this, as to the 5ms on the BenQ.

It’s naïve to think that you can look at response time alone and deduce that monitor A is better than monitor B because it has a lower response time; if only life was that simple.
For an example look at a review at Xbitlabs which shows the folly of this approach. To quote:

“Comparing the W2284F with the above-discussed ASUS LS221H, LG’s monitor is better in this round. Although it is formally slower, the overall impression is better thanks to the lack of visual artefacts.”

I’m not saying the Samsung is better or worse than 1080P monitors costing only a little more just that the devil is in the details and that you need to look beyond the headline figures to determine the quality of a product.

You make some good points agharta - LCD monitor screens are a dazzling confusion of pixel numbers contrast ratios response times etc - the marketing people really go to work on that angle.

I guess some people are reassured by known brands such as samsung - it doesnt really bother me at this price range though.

A question though, normally with this type of product someone mentions pixel mapping ratio?? or something (to do with the aspect ratio etc) - does anyone know how these two measure up?

Just to let you know, I never said that the Samsung is better than the BenQ. I was simply showing you 2 differences which stand out to the consumer at the time of comparing products. That does not make me naive.

Your points however, are valid.
