Thanks. Do you use it as TV mainly or a monitor?

I'm surprised about the viewing angles, I thought the MVA panel type was meant to perform well in this regard.

having a quick look its quite a low spec tv ,something you would expect for a low price tv. Really depends what you are getting it for

Bit of both, it's on my racing cockpit so gets used with PS3 & PC, occasionally as a TV if I want to watch something in the mancave.

I believe it's only standard definition, mine is hooked up via sky.

Looks nice, but only 1080 is relatively low for a 28" monitor, and no Freeview HD. Hot deal though.

I was going to say the Samsung LT27B551 they also sell imho is better value having bought one but I notice they have jacked the price up form £199 to £229 since Wednesday when I bought mine.

They seem to hit a certain quota and increase the price as the 24in LG they had on Monday for £179 went up to £219 by Tuesday.

In summary I wouldn't hang around as this one will no doubt be more tomorrow lol

Tempting, but it uses a TN panel and has a lower contrast ratio. I wouldn't use the smart functions as it will be mainly used as a PC monitor...plus it's an inch smaller.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Hot from me, just bought one to replace a three year old P2770HD monitor. Thanks OP.

Heres a Korean review,

blog.naver.com/Pos…889

Not bad for the price, cheapest 27” VA monitor I can find is a BenQ GW2760 at £149, I returned one not long ago due to the annoying high pitched squealing it made, visually it was excellent tho not as good as an IPS panel. For the extra £50 your getting handy options such as freeview, component and composite inputs, Scart connections and an extra inch.

Thats fair enough. I have the smart hub on another TV and the plex app is fantastic for perusing ally media content on my micro server. I know what you mean with TN as I think the curry's staff were wondering what on earth I was doing standing far left and right and tilting the TV up an down do see if there was much colour shift etc lol

Received mine this morning and I likes.

Not worth the original £349 but not bad at all for £199.

This has a two year warranty according to the paperwork in the box and not the one year Currys state on their website.

Only criticisms:

The cable from the power brick to the monitor is on the sort side, as is the figure 8 mains cable.

Bundled VGA cable, a DVI to HDMI would have been more useful or just a normal HDMI cable.

The screen has a semi-gloss finish to it, its not matt or full gloss it’s sort of in-between.

Picked one up on Saturday, great picture, build quality and nice size. Overall a great monitor for most desktop stuff. (not tried the Freeview yet).

However, I am very fussy and I'm not sure I can live with the response time performance (ghosting), most notably on dark colours when gaming. I guess that's due to the VA panel.

I'm going to try and take it back tomorrow for a refund

There is a response time setting the menu see if that helps.

I’m pretty picky when it comes to monitors and I can’t say I’ve noticed much ghosting on this. Its roughly the same as the 27” Samsung TN monitor it replaced.

I've tried the response time settings, didn't seem to make any noticeable difference.

Anyway, I've uploaded a couple of short video clips, showing the ghosting/blur I'm experiencing.

Firstly, in game panning from Train Simulator 2014 (don't laugh)...(most apparent on the black surrounds on the white dials and the white writing on the dial to the left of these).

Video 1

And secondly, using the ghosting test animation from prad.de/en/…tml

Video 2

Obviously these were only shot using a compact camera's video, so not ideal, but do show the ghosting clearly.

Now, I want to take it back for a refund, but it seems that Currys will only refund if faulty. As the screen is probably working within specification I guess I'm going to have a battle on my hands. However, the webpage for the screen advertises it as "ideal for watching sports and other fast-paced images", so possibly I could say it is not performing as advertised.

Any (constructive) comments welcomed.

It is noticeable on the videos you’ve posted, I tried the test myself and it does show some trailing.

Currys used to have a 30 day no quibble returns policy but it’s been a while since I’ve bought anything from their shops.

If it was me I would take the fuse out of the monitor’s mains plug and put it in your kettle plug, it should only be either a 3 amp or 5 so your kettle should blow it quite quickly. Once the fuse has blown put it back in the monitor plug and then return it saying either it won’t power on or it keeps blowing fuses. I know its telling porkys but its better than spending an hour arguing in currys.

guys,

I think ye are being very hard on this tv/monitor. I reserved this tv in my local currys branch in cork on Christmas eve and picked up this morning.

I bought this for a tv for the front room and so will give my tv experience. Set up was very easy and I tuned in the terrestrial saorview (ROI version of Freeview) the two hd channels are excellent, connected my skybox to the hdmi and spent the afternoon watching BT sport and the two premiership matches excellent picture quality. Now on BBC 1 death comes to pemberley great picture.

My requirement was a 28" tv, for the price of €249 nothing out there came near it on price.

Hi, has anyone used this as a computer monitor - in particular for CAD drawing ( 2d and 3d ) - that is what I am considering it for?

Don't anticipate using for any gaming, but do want it to double up as a TV.

Any comments much appreciated.

1080p is Full HD!!

Why expired? Still available.

I have just bought this TV / monitor and want to wall mount flush. The part where the stand attaches to sticks out and will not allow you to flush mount to the wall. Does anyone know how to remove this part? Manual does not help.
