Transfer in a flash

Transfer massive files within seconds with the incredible speed of USB 3.2 Gen 2 on the T7. The embedded PCIe NVMe™ technology facilitates sequential read/write speeds of up to 1,050/1,000 MB/s, respectively, making the T7 almost twice as fast as the previous T5 model.

Built strong and secure

SSD stands for Solid State Drive, which means it's built with no moving parts. The hardware can be secured with an AES 256-bit encrypted password and is encased in a sturdy metal body that keeps data intact from falls of up to 2 metres. The T7 is confidently backed by a 3-year limited warranty.

Sophisticated thermal solution

Use T7 without worrying about overheating. The T7's advanced thermal solution uses ePCM technology and the Dynamic Thermal Guard to withstand and control heat, so the compact SSD stays at an optimal temperature even at fast speeds.

Could I open this up and take the SSD out and stick it in a PS4? Or do these portable drives come with pcie drives?

It's worth checking if you'll get any performance gain with an SSD over a regular HDD. The YouTube comparisons I'd seen say it's not worth it unless its a PS4 pro. (edited)

    Is this compatible with ps5

Only to play PS4 games (edited)

Is this comparable to the Sandisk Extreme portable? Was about to buy one but now I’ve seen this…. (edited)

Decent price, might save a couple of quid buying a seperate drive and enclosure, but hardly worth the hassle for the sake of £1-2.

This T7 at least is more durable TLC NAND which is better than Crucials external drives which are usually QLC NAND. (edited)

You say that, but we use these for our game drives for bench tests and on the 3rd one in as many years, so they ain't great, plus they oftentimes give the auld 'USB power error' and don't show up on a boot, so annoyingly you need to unplug and re-plug. Formatting and the time involved to repair is annoying. That said, I think they are about as good as you can get and Samsung never had an issue replacing them. As with any flash storage, don't depend on them for sensitive data! For the price and speeds (they do actually generally get to advertised speeds) you really cannot go too far wrong and for an average user I would suggest they are a very handy weapon.

Yes ssd prices are coming down, but bang for buck they are still poor, moreso while you can grab a 4tb game driver right now for £99, and that is a lot more storage, and yes the ssd will transfer games back and forth to the internal way quicker, but now that game are 100 gig plus with ease, that 1tb ssd is starting to look very small indeed.

I use the 4tb myself for my Series S and X games, and the transfee rates are fine, if you are moving something like MS FS2020 than by the time you have made a cup of tea its transfered. (edited)

What sort of transfer speeds do you get and which drive is it please?

I'm looking for a second drive that gets around 1GB/s (edited)

    Just the same

They look like the same listing twice, so go for the £59 one, which is the same as J Lewis' one.

Perfect for Mac Mini. Better than paying Apple’s extortionate prices.

I have this one. Pretty good and reliable. However, I would rather buy an M2SSD with an enclosure dor better speed.

If you have one of these and something goes wrong with it, you know it's the drive. If you buy an M2 SSD and enclosure and it goes faulty, then you have to work out where the problem is. (edited)
