You better start looking and importing from the likes of Gearbest instead then.

"Modern design, comfortable viewing.

Valuable family time.

Enhanced connectivity and usability."

I have both. The Samsung is the best option.

I've got the Tab E and my cousin has this one, the A is so much faster and better screen, feels nice as well.
So its upgrade time for me

Depends on the price you can get a kindle hd10 for. If you can get a kindle for under 120, then that's probably the better deal, but at 149 vs 159, I would be opting for the Samsung

I have this and echo the same sentiment.... It's good.. It has a 16:9 size format.. Which is good for viewing videos

Excellent tablet, bought last year. For general use, you don't need any more than this.

Got mine on Black Friday for £149 good tab for the money

It doesn't have a USB as stated - it has a micro SD slot
It's also been ugraded to Android 7 - Nougat
We've got both the 10 inch and 7 inch versions and find much better than Apple products - very intuitive

Excellent tablet for the money, bought @ 149 from JL on Black Friday.
Would highly recommend for general browsing and media consuption

Bought one of these in the Black Friday deals too and I'm very impressed. Definitely on the heavy side for a tablet, but at this price that's kind of expected. Really good build. Only thing that's been annoying for me is that for a lot of games, the resolution seems to be a bit low, despite it being really good everywhere else (eg: movies). I think it might be an Android 7 issue though. Perfect for general functionality and watching movies. And battery life is fantastic (about 20% left after a week, despite using for 2 hours a day).

I went for a used Galaxy Tab s2 for £190. Touch more than this deal but totally different class of product.

Of course, that is the whole idea.....Samsung do an entry level E range, the Tab A mid range and the S top range. As with anything there are different classes of product, albeit the S range has a poor battery life.

Different people want differing things. I bought this Tab A for this price last Christmas, it suits my needs, I knew it was mid-range and it still has a years warranty left....meanwhile I could have gone to Cash Converters and bought something else.

Seems a great deal. Quick question, since the main problem I'm seeing with this is the 16gb internal storage. Does Android allow in Marshmallow (or whichever version this comes with) to install apps on the SD instead?

Cheers

No, well as far as I can see with mine, it doesn’t allow storing apps on an SD card. This is the only problem I have with the tablet. I’d love to be proven wrong about this though

Battery amazing
Screen....kind to my eyes anyway

I really love it

Only one thing that bothers me
They've put the 2x speakers at the bottom (portrait)
And when in landscape they (now on one side) speakers are covered up by your hands therfore you muffle the sound

Could this handle roblox and mind craft

I am returning mine (from the TESCO deal earlier).

Would have been better if Samsung has stuck to the stock Android on this. Android has the option of using a memory card as adoptable storage (since MarshMallow), thus allowing the storage to be bumped up significantly. Samsung has blocked off this feature (not difficult to guess why). There's mention of hacks on some forums but none stable AFAIK. Effectively, one can only use the memory card to store media on this one as most apps cannot take advantage of the extra memory.

The positioning of speakers is awkward.

It should do, as Android has supported this natively for years now :samsung.com/us/…01/

A family member has this tablet, so I can't check right now, but I'm 99% sure it supports it.

Keep in mind though, that even with apps that allow this, it's only normally a part of the app that gets copied (user data typically), with the actual APK normally being on the 16GB NAND.

There are ways around this, but normally, you don't want to. The internal NAND is much faster than the SD card (yes, even class 10 and above), so when you start running things on an external card, the tablet starts waiting on it and everything feels sluggish.

The GPU on this is also quite low, so it's not like you'll be running very high end games on it - which means the actual space needed for apps is probably less than you think.

Thanks op just reserved at local Argos, was about to have to pay the regular price come the weekend. Did a full check on tabs in this price bracket and agree it's a good all rounder.

The speakers configuration really puts me off buying this tablet. It's media device not a phone. Who came up with that idea?

Two users above you have reported that you can't and that Samsung has blocked this functionality in their tablets (Check Jetstream's post).

Shame, this is a dealbreaker because 16gb on a tablet is really restricting taking into account today's app sizes...

Has been cheaper, (£149) but this is still a great tablet for this money.

Highly recommended.

I've got the 4g version of this tab and it's excellent,

a little tip for you

The back of the tablet is magnetic so it's great for sticking on the fridge ect

Thanks OP, ordered. Can any owners of this tablet recommend a good case please?

Yeah, this is a 16:10 tablet so they should never have defaulted to a portrait orientation in the first place IMO. True, some apps not adapted for tablets will go into forced portrait mode, but still...

Thanks OP, ordered for the kids to replace their ageing Hudl 2!

Adoptable storage is what the user refers to, which is actually different from the typical 'move to SD card' option. If this is the case for the 'move to SD card' option too - then fair enough, but I just can't get my head around why Samsung would do this, and even allow it for all of the other tablets in the 5xx range (see my link).

Adoptable storage is better to be fair, but it comes with much higher risks. Taking out the SD card while an app is using it, can cause an OS crash.

Maybe one of the owners could check the normal move option, and not adoptable storage before taking it back?

I got this from Amazon .. but unfortunately going back coz the device itself is!!

Had this since black friday deals. Overall I'm enjoying it for the price as a daily net browsing tablet. As someone mentioned the speakers are in a slightly awkward position but it doesn't really detract from the overall experience. For the price it's a fantastic purchase as the core experience is great.

There is no option to move apps to a SD card. Even Kindle Fire has this, so I don’t get why Samsung would remove the option, unless it’s doing the Apple trick
