RRP is £1,199 (though there is currently a £250 cashback), but this deal at amazon.es still works out nearly 200 quid cheaper at 774 including delivery.

The £713.53 price is using Amazon's exchange rate. I got it for closer to £700 by using my monzo card, which uses the mastercard exchange rate.

Details on the TV below:

The Frame enhances your home whether you’re watching TV or not. In Art Mode it displays artwork and photos (from Samsung’s expandable library, or your own collection), transforming your TV into art that enhances your living space, just like a picture frame. It can mount flush to the wall with the included No-gap wall mount and Near-invisible optical cable, or displayed on the included stand. As a TV, it features the billion shades of Samsung’s QLED screen, plus Dual LED and Q HDR technology for incredible colour and detail. Control all compatible devices with One Remote Control, and you can access a world of online entertainment via Samsung's Smart platform, and interact by voice with Bixby, Alexa and Google Assistant, all built-in (Google Assistant available from June 2020 via software update).

Interesting deal! Heat added :).

Do you reckon you could get the cashback from Samsung on top, for this :)?
So how do you power this thing if it only has an "optical" cable?

The power lead plugs into the one connect box not the tv
Note the software is regional - it won't support 'Freesat' but you can manually tune in the channels and reorder (which is more of a pain than it sounds).

Has a separate box which powered and which you run hdmi, aerial lead to etc, then optical cable goes from the box to the tv
I guess you can’t get the cash back from Samsung UK that’d make it a killer deal! samsung.com/uk/…ck/

Amazon not listed as a participating retailer.
Really good deal compared to UK, quite a good deal compared to normal Spain price.

samsung.com/es/…XC/ - 892 Euros.
I've got serious gadget lust for a frame after enjoying the great artwork displayed on our Google home. I understand you need a subscription to use the Samsung gallery. I'm going to have to wait until our extension is built though.

Its not optical cable, its a thin cable with neutral colour.

I think you get a certain amount of the gallery images for free, but you can subscribe for a broader range.

Is it just a question of changing the region, I wonder, or is the region-specific software baked-in and can never be changed?

"If you have a UE55F8000STXXC instead of the UE55F8000STXXU used in the example the difference between the two models would be the second is designed for sale in Spain & may not be completely compatible with UK Broadcasting & Smart Applications "

I guess Netflix, Amazon etc. all work but there'll be no Britbox, Freesat, etc. Not sure if there's a way to load those apps somehow. Maybe EPG issues too.

Also there's always the option to use your own images. I think I read somewhere that the 2018/9 models nag you to subscribe all the time. That could ruin the effect a bit!

Baked in. No hardware difference, just a way to legally differentiate markets and pricing.

I did wonder why it's so cheap in Spain. I guess the explicit example on Samsung's website about model numbers in Spain vs UK suggests you're right - there's some deliberate differentiation being done.
or just frame your regular 43" tv for 20 quid

Well yes, you could do that
synasla10/06/2020 15:16

You'd have to implement and integrate a PIR and software to turn it off when nobody is around, and turn it on when people are around, and switch to low brightness picture mode, etc.

All doable with a Raspberry Pi, but not easy. You're paying for more than just the frame. You get a flush mount to the wall, a TV that can function without any ventilation gaps, and the integration of picture mode.

UK price is unjustifiable, but at this Spanish price, I think it's decent.
If its like the 75 inch the 2- 3 mm optical cable also caries power. Mine came with 4 months free subscription to the Art store, think its 3-99/month after that. Great selection of modern, classic and contemporary art and photography, and probably worth the price, although I do plan to view my own work on there eventually. The museums showcasing images seem to regularly change. Highly recommend all round, if the tech is the same with the 43.
Great deal, the 50inch which is not available in the UK is also a great price. I just purchased it, thanks for the tip

Yep and it's sold out at John Lewis. Also £500 more
Lovely design and good looking TV but ridiculously over priced for what it is. If Samsung stopped being greedy and charged about double the price of there normal 43" these would get snapped up by a lot more people

Thanks OP, ordered! Fingers crossed there will be no complications from it being a Spanish model. Does the box with the TV just have a regular 2 prong cable (like those which power things like an Xbox /Apple TV/PS3 etc), or think will have to use an adapter? I'm planning to mostly just use with an Apple TV 4K anyway so should be fine.
Edited by: "Jonnoy" 11th Jun
so ... if there's only one power lead to the external tuner box, I presume the power is then being stepped down to DC before going to the TV?

I once returned some hard disks to amazon.fr as they were faulty. The returns label didn't cover the postage. They told me to pay for it and they would refund me. They kept their promise.
Curry’s currently seems to have 10% off until the 23rd. You can get 250 cash back after that, making it 829 for the 43 inch. Might be of interest to some who are concerned about compatibility of the Spanish model.

5 year guarantee and UK model, I’ve swapped my amazon order for that, thanks again! Just a bit of a longer wait than the one coming from Spain

Quidco tracked £9.99 of cashback, though I doubt that will be honoured.
