Currently £195 at JL but they would price match with Sonic Direct (which has a physical showroom) for £165. Very good price and added 2 year warranty by JL.
A Which? Best Buy 4K player.

I know the xbox one s has a 4k bluray player built in. How does its quality compare to a stand alone player?

Picture and sound wise it's no different. Digital is digital. There's an article on avforums where they did a comparison.

XB is noisier and doesn't come with a standard remote are the main downsides. Non white versions are more expensive.
I have a one s, it's a very capable UHD blu-ray player, yes a little more noisy than a stand-alone, and controller instead of remote control, but also has the fact it can be used as a game system etc also. So much more useful than a stand-alone IMO, and gets used waaay more often so is more value for money.
If all you need is a stand-alone and wouldn't make use of any of the one-s features, then stand-alone it is... hell, I'd choose a one-s any day even if it was just used at parties, by visitors, etc.
I have this, NOT noisy IMO, works very well, great picture and upscale DVD and blu Ray, where as the Xbox one will Not upscale.
I have this very good player but I've used it twice. Got 4 films with it. 2 crap 2 good but how many times can you watch the same films. Not paying £30 a film. I've just ordered blue planet 2 for £19.99 off amazon. Posted on here , so I will use it.

Totally agree that buying UHD discs are not cost-effective. I have been using Cinema Paradiso postal rent service for the past two years, and can vouch for them. They have started adding 4K discs to their database as of last couple of weeks. Paying £7~8 a month and getting 4 discs a month totally worth it.

This unit is louder than a One S.

I purchased the K8500 as a standalone. Wasn't happy with the price (it's a budget 4K player but the One S at a similar price point....).

The noise is what led me to return, spinup and down are awful on the K8500, I compared with the same K8500's in multiple stores - same issues.

Housing on these units are very cheap indeed but that could be expected at this price? Well, no. The One S has a much more durable housing and a more premium feel.

If you're considering this player and don't play Games, still get the One S for the above points alone, not to mention Netflix with Atmos support vs K8500.

Lastly, buy a Media remote for the One S or a harmony hub if you want greater control than CEC would allow with the K8500.
