Decent model, was £129 elsewhere not long back, but now stock seems to have gone. Saw Box have it in stock delivered at £128 so worth a shout. I'm in the market to upgrade and this is pretty much the price bracket I was going for, I've already got a fair few movies I haven't been able to watch as of yet.

this better than 4k player in xbox one x? been dissapointed with it for films. Games are amazing
I'm on my third one - films skip frames or the image freezes.
No issues on mine superb playback and upscales unlike x box

Unfortunately the 4K bluray player on X1 isn't great. This is indeed better picture for 4K discs. They look pretty amazing on my KS9000 series, especially in HDR. But it obviously depends significantly on the quality of your 4K TV, and on the disc in question too. Many 4K bluray disks are not actually 4K at all, but upscaled 2K or 1440p marketed as 4K Ultra Blu-Ray. Some of those look excellent mind, some not so. I believe the top end Panasonic Ultra 4K player scored even higher than this 8500 model on picture quality, but this is still an excellent choice my opinion (especially for the price) and certainly far better than the X1.

thanks for the feedback. tv is a mid range sammy mu7000. decent set but not perfect by any stretch! Might look to invest in a decent 4k player. I wish they took the 4k player out the xbox and reduced the cost if its not up to scratch. Was expecting a lot better...even Dunkirk was decent but not amazing really

I agree. I'd be happy to have the 4K bluray player on the X if it was up to scratch. But I'd rather they made the console a bit cheaper without it. It's an awesome console though in my opinion, so I'm not knocking it. I think the MU7000 is a great midrange TV by the way - it's a good picture for movies, and great for gaming.

Just doesnt make much sense MS putting the 4k player in? goes against the rest of the product which is 110% premium and top notch and not cut any corners! Mu7000 is a great value for money tv. paid 670 for 55inch is happy with that

I found this to match, not exceed the image quality of the Xbox one s.

Ultimately I returned mine because of the loud drive and sluggish UI.

If used on a 4k TV, the TV will upscale regardless.

Yeah. And I'd imagine the xbox does upscale anyway.
So what's wrong with the 4k playback of the Xbox? I've only seen two things mentioned for the current version, spotty disc compatibility and colours not quite right...and the latter MS are aware of so should hopefully be fixed soon (as per other updates made).
Actually bought a refurbished one yesterday for 109 so good price for a brand new one.
Those that are saying the quality of the XBOX One X UHD blu-ray player is not as good a quality as this, are you sure you switching off Game Mode on your TV when watching UHD movies on the One X?
The Xbox One S plays 4k movies quite happily. You don't need the One X for that. The original Xbox One won't however.
Doesn't seem to be that many movies being released in 4K.

Same with tv series like The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones - you would think by now they could produce 4K quality now

Don’t most new movies to blu-ray have a 4K offering these days? I see Bladerunner 2049 did and I also see Star Wars the Last Jedi is being released in 4K, which is a 4K first for Star Wars movies.
