Product information

The J5100 creates an amazing TV viewing experience. With Freeview HD and ConnectShare, you’ll never be short of content to watch across the 32-inch screen. And what’s more, pictures are displayed in Full HD 1080p for an immersive watch of all your TV programmes, movies and games.

Full HD
Samsung's Full HD 1080p TV displays a picture quality that’s crisp, clear and breathtakingly life-like to create an amazing TV viewing experience.

Colour brilliance
Using an advanced picture quality improvement algorithm, Samsung’s Wide Colour Enhancer Plus drastically improves the quality of any image, uncovering hidden details and allowing you to see colours as they were meant to be.

Freeview HD
Get a huge variety of channel options - without any additional boxes or connections – with Freeview HD. The platform is a free-to-air digital service that comes already built into your TV. With free access to over 50 standard definition TV channels and 4 HD channels (including ITV HD, BBC One HD, BBC HD and 4 HD), there's no shortage of things to watch - and you don't have to mess around with extra subscriptions and set-top boxes.

ConnectShare
With ConnectShare, you can display movie content or images from a USB drive across the screen for your whole family to share and enjoy. Simply plug your USB drive directly into your Samsung TV's USB port to watch movies, play music or view photos.

Perfect partners
With TVs getting slimmer and built-in speakers getting smaller, choosing the right sound system is more important than ever. Soundbars enhance your TVs sound quality and add that extra audio punch to all your movies, games and TV programmes. More affordable and easier to set up than a full size speaker system, they don’t compromise on quality either. The Samsung HW-250 soundbar is the perfect partners for this Samsung TV. Simply secure the soundbar to the wall, or place infront of the television, to fill your living room with immersive sound.

£179 from Amazon, but no 5 year warrantee.
£162.89 from Amazon Warehouse, but you take your chances.

I think buying it from John Lewis is the better deal - although personally I went for Amazon as I had vouchers
For £10 more it is well worth just buying from JL for the warranty.

A no brainer.

JL only price match companies with at least 1 high street store unfortunately. Defo worth the extra £10 for JL. I've had to claim on their extended warranty before and they were amazing - no questions asked and replacement for full cost of original tv!

Amazon have a bookshop now in America... Does that count?
This seems incredibly affordable for a full HD 2015 model by a good make and with good reviews for picture quality. And could make it smart with a Chromecast. Tempted. Any reason why one shouldn't get it if in the market for a 32" TV?

The only reason not to get this is because of the appalling sound, but that is true of most LCD TVs. Samsung are worse than most though. The sound is bearable imo only with a set of speakers and even then there is far too much bass.

I also forgot about the stand. If you have a set top box or something you want to put underneath your TV then forget it. Whoever thought of the idea of the stand is an idiot. You cannot put anything under the TV unless it is a very wide box. Apart from these problems it's a good TV.

I've had a few much older Samsung tvs. 2 small models which have just started having issues. 1 will need to be turned on 10 times for it to actually turn on. the other has dodgy volume. both are many years old!
a 3d samsung tv i got a few years ago was faulty within a year. it would not save the sound and picture settings. it would say it had. but if you toggled them they would become what you at them to. very annoying. the replacement from samsung had the same problem but i couldn't be bothered with all the hassle again and still use it

I had one of these and returned it as the picture quality was not great when it comes to motion handling.

Now that is not good news for you agreed but in every dealing I have had with JL & TV warrant they have had it checked over & replaced within 7 days. Once I had a full refund of nearly £1900 after having a set for 3.5 years, this was many years ago when plasma sets were expensive.

Who are you dealing with ?

Online or shop ?

If you buy from richersounds and it gets faulty within the warranty period, then you take it back to any richersounds store they will give you a TV from display, etc to take home until your TV is repaired

Same with any retailer, good and bad experiences I suppose, we had Tech Support, CS and a Manager involved, 6 different versions of what was happening at their end and more to it but it was a mess TBH, they were phoning us up to find out was was going on, lol, there's only so much patience one can tolerate for such an easy thing to do (At first they took it to repair it and then forgot to tell us it couldn't be fixed whie we were waiting a week for someone to get in touch), it's all sorted now, refund and new TV from RS, not a good CS experience.

Thanks, we did read up about RS and their warranties and mostly good (Same as JL ) and got one from them and on one forum I visit there is an active member from RS who sorts out issues if reported to him, so another avenue to persue if needed in the future.

Apparently John Lewis wont price match Amazon. The price match company needs to have a physical high street store.

Regarding the screen dimming - i think that is to do with one of the "Eco" settings. You can turn them off if you poke through the settings.
