A grand for a 40" LCD 1080p is a tad steep. Nice if you want an ultra-thin TV tho.

We were in the store just the other day....the picture is amazing

It might be a nice picture but on a stand it can be thicker and on the wall a little heavier and £500 lighter on your pocket with a Panny lol

Time to go read about LED TVs methinks...

I'll give you a head start:
1. Go to en.wikipedia.org/wik…_TV
2. Watch the video review I posted - it's mentioned in the 1st minute of the review.

These are not LED, they just have an led backlight for the regular LCD screen to even out the brightness.

Spot on (as well as being able to produce a thinner TV since the fluorescent lights are now gone)

To be honest, videophiles out there should be keeping one eye squarely on SED TVs - Canon are still keeping the dream alive!!

Wow, would have gone for one if they dropped the price a couple of weeks ago. Got an LG LCD instead.

For those talking about it being pricey, these screens are outstanding. Defininately worth £1K+.
And anyway, the fact that these use far less power than LCD's (they use around 1/3 of an LCD of equivalent size) means you'll eventually make that money back through your electricity bills.

You do know it's still an LCD panel ?

Yes, but people (well, shops) use the term 'LCT TV' to describe LCD panels with standard cathode backlighting. And 'LED TV' to descibe LCD panels with LED backlighting.
Not sure why to be honest. Guess they just don't want to go into too much detail when people ask why they are different if they are both LCD TV's.

SED will NEVER be affordable for home use, unless you are stupidly rich. But they have to actually start producing them first. Every year they say it'll be the next year...

They said the same for large screen LCD panels. At one point it cost the same for a 42" plasma as it did for a 20" LCD. This was BEFORE HD even hit the shelves.

It's not TRUE LED, it's just LED

It's not LED in any shape or form, unless the backlight now dictates the panel-type.

It's an LCD TV.

I hope you are joking, after TRUE LED are we getting FULL LED? :prop:

Would still buy a decent plasma over any of these LCD's, they could backlight it with burning magnesium ribbon for all I care its still an LCD

These TV's ARE NOT L.E.D. (i.e. Light Emitting Diodes); they are STILL L.C.D. (Liquid Crystal Displays) with L.E.D. backlighting. Yes, they do improve the display, but they are not LEDs. The only LEDs TVs will be the Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLED), but consumer units of a decent size screen are at least couple years away. You can always buy the Sony OLED 11" for about £1500, I think.

OLED screens are appearing on high-end mobile phones and MP3/4 players.

Samsung may well be the first with an OLED 40", but at what price is anyone's guess.

so what tv do you own currently .........?

you are allways posting negative comments about these tv,s

is it that you cannot afford one of these :viking:

i await your reply with great interest ................lmao here

as for so called led Vs lcd Vs plasma i think it is a matter of personal opinion

just like the 1080p debate that constantly rumbles on here ......... blurb blurb blurb .... boring

remember folks, no scart sockets on this TV.
so its hard to connect up that old VHS player!
