No mention of TVs...
TVs are Electronics...
Does this TV support BBC iPlayer as some comments seem to indicate it does?
I know that :-p but TVs are listed as a separate category.

That said I just tested it and the discount is applied after entering your payment details
How do I get the 10% discount? Still shows at £330.

Add it to your basket and go to the checkout. It should show the promotion there.
Anyone got anything bad to say about this? Been looking for a sub 300 40 inch tv for a while and this seems to fit the bill.

TV is not SMART, therefore it does not do IPlayer. if you get the 5500, I believe that does.
Very true shedloads, I got the 32" version from Amazon warehouse 'like new' late last year for just over £200 and it's a superb tv, I imagine the 40" would be just as good
Thanks - did not know about the 10% discount and was looking at the UE40ES6300 - got it for £441 - but the new price is £569, saving me almost £130 !

Hope it really is 'like new'.

Cheers
Yes its the 5500 that has iPlayer, etc. I picked up the 40" version from Richer Sounds the other week as an "open box" which means a customer return but only thing i could tell by was the batteries weren't wrapped up that's it. In the end i got it for £400 which also included their 5 year warranty. Oh and its a cracking TV by the way so i would assume this would be very similar.
Doesn't appear to add it at checkout. I'm not at the 'place your order' stage and no discount showing?
i have gone to checkout and it isnt saying any 10% off... can someone confirm this is still on? i am at the checkout just before i click "place order" and it says 330 plud delivery of 3 pound odd....

I ordered a slightly different model ( see earlier post) just over an hour ago and worked fine for me. Reduced price of TV from £490 to £441 no problems.
can confirm that this TV is not on the 10% discount list (spoke to an advisor) must of been taken off at some point. Still lots of other items on the offer but this tv isnt one of them
I got one of these new last year and I've been very pleased. SD pictures are good, HD excellent, and the sound is better than most for a flat screen. It has a very narrow frame around the edge so it really emphasises the picture.

The only downside for some is that it has only 2 HDMI ports.

I use a Humax Freesat HD recorder connected to my broadband modem with homeplugs which gives me iplayer.

Love the TV and would buy it again.
£349 in richer sounds so no deal here.
I have two of these, very good quality TV at a good price. Not many fancy functions, but if you want an 40" LED TV with HD freeview with a great quality picture and sound, then this is the one.

Samsung are focussing more on producing low priced basic specification TVs now, less of the wafer thin, 3D, smart, all singing, all dancing TVs, to compete with the Chinese market in Asia. Most people just want a cheap TV with a good picture. That's what you get with this.

I have my HP N40L server attached to one, and a Revo 3600 with Windows 7 attached to the other. No need for smart for me.
no discount. price needs to be changed.
Updated price info.

So why does the official website for this model talk about BBC iPlayer?

samsung.com/uk/…ort
First of all, this TV is only a couple of quid cheaper BRAND NEW at Tesco+Richre Sounds. So colder than the arctic here.

Secondly, I have it myself and there is definitely NO iPlayer or any other "SMART" features. (thank God, I have no time for clunky clutter)

Thirdly the HD looks great on this TV, the standard def is pretty "meh" though. Input lag is 20seconds which is pretty good, gaming is fine on it. Dark images smear slightly but nothing even noticeable unless you know what it is and look for it. Freeview HD also looks good. Black levels are outstanding when the picture has been set up properly.

Here's a pic of it in action:

Can anyone comment on the video playing capabilities - will it replace a WDTV and play HD videos from a PC server - how well does the Samsung AllShare software work?

I don't know where you are getting that from because the website clearly says this TV doesn't have those features.

To answer my own question now I have set mine up - it plays all of my MKV/M2TS/MP4 video files from a USB hard drive - it doesn't show thumbnails like the WDTV and is a little slow to navigate but otherwise works well enough. I can confirm that it has a network connection there is no functionality - so no iPlayer or network media playing - can't even upgrade the firmware over the network.
