Cracking deal for a great TV this one. Even comes with the 3d glasses and everything else that you need, including a 5 year guarantee! Gotta be hot?

Not a bad deal actually and you can get a free hub too !!

Same price at John Lewis. Can't find anywhere else that's cheaper that John Lewis will be able to price match though

Good TV for the money this one isn't it? Comes with 2 lots of 3d glasses as well, and the pebble remote control. It has voice recognition as well and appears to come with the free samsung multi room hub - which is another £50.00 separately.

I think the hub is not worth that much. Claimed one myself for ue40h6700. They don't go for much on eBay

what does it actually do? It doesn't make an awful lot of sense from the description.

Excellent TV for the money. Can suffer from lip sync and a bit of dse, but the Hd quality is very good.SD only average though at best.

Haha. True! "Ecosystem" BS. I think you connect Samsung speakers up to it. Speakers are £150+ hence the reason why they are giving these away

No, I mean SD.

oh, i was going to buy one, what you think?

I think for the money it's a very good tv if you watch HD a lot, and blurays.
You need to set it up properly ( check out AV forums for picture calibration settings) and you will be rewarded

Yes you can record on it.Records to usb memory sticks. Not tried a hard drive but probably works as well.
Netflix works well.

I'm in the market for a new television and this seems decent.

The main use would be gaming (Xbox one) and streaming lovefilm via the Xbox. Is it worth committing to this one or should I wait for another deal?

silly question so be gentle, whats the difference bettween the 40 ish inch h5500/h5510 and h6400 series is it 3d (no interest to me) or is it just a newer engine ?

as far as i am aware the 6 series has a new processor, the 3d features, the new pebble remote control and built in wifi

received mine yesterday and once you calibrate the picture its excellent.
3d also works really well

bought this over a year ago and it is a brilliant TV. I highly recommend it. at this price it's a real deal.

are you sure its the same model, as i think this only came out in early 2014, defo would not have been able to get this TV in 2013 (unless you have the 2013 model which has the letter F replacing H in the model no.)

OOS at John Lewis although they've put the price up as well for some reason.
Would prefer to get from JL than RS as only heard good things abt JL customer service, but not sure if theyll get it back in stock whilst it stays at this price.
Anyone vouch for RS over JL, or had experience with RS cust service?

just got this TV home and installed it... I wasn't bothered about the 3d aspects at all. The best thing about it is the operating system - its great. Its also lightening fast as well due to the quad core processor! Recommended.

Be kind to me..So, I'm looking for a 40" Samsung Smart TV & I'm not bothered about 3D. Can anyone recommend a particular TV please? Under £350 if possible? I've totally overloaded my brain with information. Richer sounds is at the bottom of our road but their language simply baffles me! Thankings.

I've got the 48 version of this TV and it's awesome. Plex App and Wii controller remote are the best features

Make sure you turn down the motion plus from it's default setting (I use clear) or it makes everything look like a soap opera!

Can anyone recommend a TV that does good SD - 39 or 40 inches. They all do good HD but good SD is harder to find.

Can anyone send links to ideal picture settings for this set (ue40h6400) thanx

I have had one of these (this 40" version) for about four months (from John Lewis) and I am very pleased with it. Blu-Rays are stunning and I have also been impressed with the SD and DVD quality (although the latter may be more down to the BD-H6500 Blu-Ray player). I have used the 3D facility (mainly YouTube test videos) and it works, but it is not something I am bothered about - I think that is the main difference between the H5500/H5510 and the H6400 series and maybe the "pebble" remote (with voice commands), which I don't use - a bit of a gimmick for me. I have come across the lip-sync issue, but I rarely use the built-in tuner (I mainly use YouView) and I think it has been fixed or improved by firmware updates, but to be honest I'm not completely sure.
The smart features perform well and I use a Logitech X400 keyboard for surfing, although some apps don't support the keyboard (more to do with the apps than the TV). I have connected a 500Gb HDD and it is able to record onto that. I have noticed the the TV guide doesn't appear to have a search facility which my YouView box has.
Almost everybody who has seen the TV has commented on how good the picture quality is and how good the TV looks (especially the slim bezel). Personally, I'm not keen on the chrome effect "chicken-foot" stand. Anyway, in short, I paid about £30 more for my set and having had it for a while, I would buy it again. Heat added!
I should also mention that there are no captive cables, which will help with wall mounting. The mains lead is a two core "figure-8"/telefunken/radio-cassette type lead.

You'd be well served to go and speak to them, they're supposed to accommodate all customers not just the tech-heads. Go speak to them, make it plain you're a TV virgin and tell them what your wants and don't wants are and they should help you out. You also get the benefit of being able to see the screens first hand, which can make a big difference as everyone has different preferences.

As for what you want, the lower end of the Samsung 6000 series (or late 5000 series) should be roughly in your price range by now. I bought a 40" H7000 last week at £649, the H6700 was on sale £549 but both screens have Freesat HD and Freeview HD tuners making them a bit more expensive than what you need.

First three on this page should fit your requirements?

Had the same issue with JL - initially disappointing BUT phoned my local store (Edinburgh) to check if they had any, and although OOS there too were still selling for £399, and were able to order for me over the phone. Just waiting till the end of the day to collect mine :-) Like many folks, I don't care about 3D, just needed an upgrade to our ancient toshiba 32". Fingers crossed the picture/sound is up to the expecations ......:-}

Paid £429 for mine from RS in nov.
great tv,
Download Plex and you will make your media players redundant.
My Wdtv live is now dead (bored).
Great picture, sounds ok
