one of best spec TV...before you buy it from here you can always ask John Lewis to match the price as they have reduced the same model price to 349 to match up with Amazon and AO.. the benefit of buying from JL is you get 5year Guarantee.

Laptops Direct have this TV for £338.97 so in fact cheaper than this and JL matched it for me. Arriving on Thursday

EDIT

Apologies, seems like Laptops Direct increased the price to £348.97 now, I would pay £10 for 4 years extra warranty personally though

The one you are referring to is better, but it’s at least £50 more and I am not sure you could tell if there’s a massive difference.

is this set true 4k?

Pretty sure it is definitely 4K. But won't be a 10 bit panel and won't have the brightness needed for proper HDR.

Having done some research when I was considering this against LG UJ630V 43inch that was available for £319 with free HDMI Cable but had RGBW panel I think that Samsung has a true 4k panel, but as mentioned by above comment it’s only 8bit including HDR

The main difference appears to be with the colour display and the style.

The MU6120 has an 8 bit, 16 million colour panel.

The MU6400 has an upscaled 8bit panel + FRC, to create a 10 bit colour panel effect. i.e 1billion colours.

The other difference is that the 6400 has a silver metal bezel and a slimmer profile.

Other than that they appear the same on everything else.

It is 4k but to be honest on a 40" display youll barely be able to notice the difference between HD and 4K unless youre sitting very close, about 1 metre from the screen.

Went to John Lewis on the weekend and it had dull colours. The next model up was ace but £415 ish. Went for a LG 43UJ670V for £360.

1 billion colours? You're gonna need a pretty big crayon set for that.

Also MU6400 has a freesat tuner and an additional "smart" remote.

Its fine for an 8 bit panel, you have to spend a lot more money for a 10 bit panel

I played some 4k hdr videos off youtube and it looks amazing. When you view the tvs in john lewis, its deceiving because it depends on the content each tv is showing.
