Product information

Enjoy a brilliantly vibrant 4K HDR picture with Samsung's MU6120. The brand's Certified Ultra HD screen delivers an image of beautifully true colour and clarity. Auto Depth Enhancer technology takes you further into the visuals, while 4K upscaling and Ultra Clean View features ensure whatever you're watching gets the same sparkling 4K treatment. Access a world of online entertainment via Samsung's Smart Hub too. The spectacular visuals of the MU6120 bring a world-class viewing experience into the home.

HDR with Auto Depth Enhancer
Samsung are one of the forerunners of colour-boosting High Dynamic Range (HDR). As members of the UHD Alliance, they've delivered top-shelf HDR. This means that there are over a billion individual colours to deepen your view and show shades you’ve never seen in home entertainment before. Usually, studios are forced to dilute the colour of their shows and films to fit on our TVs. Now, HDR screens like the MU6120 can channel content from studio-to-living room with the same precision and utterly otherworldly hues. Plus the screen's UHD Dimming achieves more realistic shadow detail and contrast too. Being able to independently adjust tone, brightness and sharpness in different areas around the screen gives a stunningly realistic picture quality. And it's all heightened by the brand's Auto Depth Enhancer which maximises your immersion in the picture.

4K UHD with Upscaling
The MU6120's Certified Ultra HD 4K resolution screen takes you to the next level of viewing experience. Four times the number of pixels of 1080p Full HD delivers stunning realism, natural motion and incredible detail. Experience this high-spec picture on everything you watch thanks to 4K upscaling. Samsung's innovative upscaling technology converts lower resolution content to a level of detail near UHD. Meanwhile the brand's Auto Motion Plus processing ensures even the very fastest action, like sports or action movies, is always smooth and blur-free.

Ultra Clean View
Give your old favourites a sparkling makeover with Ultra Clean View. This clever tech analyses the input signal and reduces distortion and visual noise. So no matter what the content, it'll always be a ravishing picture of crispness and clarity.

Samsung Smart Hub
Now faster, with ultra-high definition streaming, catch-up and games services, is the latest Smart Hub platform. This quick and easy platform marks a massive step forward for the connected home. Access the latest apps to experience the best UHD content from Netflix and Amazon*. You can even browse content easily, searching for your favourite programmes and movies while you are still watching TV. Powering the seamless interaction is the powerful Quad Core processor which significantly boosts performance with faster access to Smart features. Enjoy super-fast response times, as you use and toggle between apps, online services and live TV with ease.

Samsung TVPlus
Experience easy access to the latest movies via your TV guide in addition to all your traditional TV channels. Whether you’re browsing for the latest Hollywood blockbuster or trying to find Ultra HD content, expand your viewing options through a wealth of additional Smart channels with Samsung TV Plus. Watch subscription free content with on-air and catch-up services (charges apply for premium on-demand content).

Other Features:

Music: With this smart feature, instantly recognise and listen to any background music.*

TV Sound Connect: Effortlessly connect a Samsung soundbar to your TV with Soundconnect.

Perfect partners
With TVs getting slimmer and built-in speakers getting smaller, choosing the right sound system is more important than ever. Soundbars enhance your TV’s sound quality and add that extra audio punch to all your movies, games and TV programmes. More affordable and easier to set up than a full size speaker system, they don’t compromise on quality either.

Don't forget...
If you want to connect your TV to a blu-ray player, games console, soundbar or soundbase then you'll need a HDMI cable.

TV Tech Explained

Curved screen | allows for a more immersive viewing experience with edge-to-edge viewing and reduced glare

High Dynamic Range (HDR) | Expanding contrast ratio and colour palettes, High Dynamic Range (HDR) gives greater glow and visual depth than regular HD content.

UHD Alliance| A band of TV brands, broadcasters and film producers that set Ultra HD standards. Members include LG, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, Netflix, Disney, Warner Bros and Technicolor.

Ultra HD Certified | The manufacturer guarantees that the TV reaches specific Ultra HD picture quality and resolution benchmarks for true Ultra HD colour and clarity.

4K Upscaling | boosts standard definition and high definition content to a near 4K ultra-high definition picture quality

LED | LED-backlit TVs feature hundreds of small LEDs (light emitting diodes) to create a thin, light weight and energy efficient TV. This is perhaps the most common screen type on the market

PQI (Picture Quality Index) | the figure indicated is made up by scoring each of the picture enhancing technologies including hardware and software contained in each TV. The higher the score the better the picture quality.

Smart TV | streams online content through your home network to bring you access to digital content such as On Demand, and streaming services from the internet such as apps

Refresh rate | the higher the rate, the smoother the picture. A quick response time is also required to justify this feature.

Freesat HD | a satellite service which offers quality, free entertainment via a set top box or integrated receiver, in high definition

Wi-Fi | allows TVs, smartphones, computers and other devices to connect to the internet and communicate wirelessly

DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) | comprises consumer electronics manufacturers who have created an industry-wide standard to enable devices to share media, such as videos and photos, over a home network

Wireless connection | established via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC or DLNA

A slightly cheaper deal (£348) is available here: cramptonandmoore.co.uk/sol…tml But it excludes 5 years guarantee (£59). Altogether this alternate deal costs £407. So I think John Lewis deal is a cracking one for the price.

To add Bluetooth support follow these instructions posted by user NRE123 on another XXMU6120 TV deal (this works in most samsung models ending 6120).

1) Switch off the TV and press Info+Settings+Mute+Power button (quick one after another)
2) TV will start and display a menu with various settings - Select Engineer Setting
3) Set Bluetooth sound setting - ON
4) Goto MDR settings - Update value of BT Network(if i rem it correctly) - ON (its above BT Address field)
5) Restart TV and you should have BT receiver under Sound settings along with TV Speaker option.

Worked on mine!

I have this TV and enjoy it, heat added

I would of went for this but 32 just managed to get on to my table

I have this TV and it is great.
It was one of the few I could find with built in freesat and is a reasonable size.
We have it in our kitchen and it looks more like our old 36" as it has small bezel. But you get 40" of screen

This is cheaper than I paid for it and you get JL 5 year guarantee.

I vote hot!

I dont believe the 6120 model comes with a freestat tuner

Mine does?

HDR10?

Also, would this be good for gaming? Thanks IA

Any good for a Pc this or should I go for the £200 32” AOC monitor.

Samsung UE40MU6120K Tech Spec states DVB-T2C tuner only.

If it does have a freesat tuner, this is on my purchase today list.

Same price at Richer Sounds + with a 6 years guarantee

b1koni6 m ago

HDR10?

Compatibility yes, obviously it doesn't have much in the way of dynamic range increase at this price.

Every TV is good for gaming these days, the times when some had 200ms+ input lag are gone.

Freesat built in = NO

Ordered this from John Lewis on the 28th Nov for £349 and it's finally being delivered tomorrow. So 16 days delivery to Northern Ireland, just in case anyone else is hoping to receive it this side of Christmas, you may be disappointed!

£348 at Crampton and Moore so would be worth price matching too

Yes as C&M have physical stores.

This is pretty much the price it has been, not much of deal. In fact I'd be inclined to get it from Richer Sounds for the same price and an extra year of warranty.

To add Bluetooth support follow these instructions posted by user NRE123 on another XXMU6120 TV deal (this works in most samsung models ending 6120).

Will you get noticeable improvement from 1080p > 4K on this size TV?

Bovrilontoast1 h, 23 m ago

Yes as C&M have physical stores.

But their return policies are different. With JL you get your delivery costs back. With C&M they charge you up to £80 to return. (Unless faulty of course)
This May be grounds for JL not price matching.
Sadly it’s not just a matter of price it’s the whole buying experience that must match up.
Update
ive looked at my emails from JL and last year they were happy to match with C&M....so that was 5 mins of my time wasted writing that post

That depends on your sources and viewing distance.

Compared top quality Full HD video like blu-ray discs I wouldn't expect to see much difference unless you're sitting very close. Lower quality sources like TV or Netflix would benefit from higher bitrate you can get with the HDCP 2.2 DRM support.

Was looking at getting the UE40MU6400 but damn this looks good

MU6400 can be had for £399 via JL price match

Really? that's strange because I even asked RC and JL when I was considering 40 and 50 Inch variant of 6120 series and they said their don't have freesat tuner built it..

Is Samsung's QLED technology worth considering paying the (large) extra price for?

naz400r7 m ago

But 6120 is superior to 6400..
6400 has awful light bleeding problem, many people gone into even 3 replacement with no change..because 640 has IPS panel but 6120 has VA panel so no such problem.

check this link regarding 6400 problems :

I'm looking for a 4k screen for gaming on, i'll be sitting probably no more than 1.5m away as it'll be at a desk. Am i likely to benefit from 4k when sitting at this distance from this screen? I don't really want to go bigger (maybe to 43") but do want to get the best experience, this has HDR but presumably not 10bit, so am i sacrificing something there, not futureproofing? Or am i really going to be able to tell the difference?

Big thanks to anyone who answers any of my questions

No,if you are willing to spend that much go for OLED.
QLED is justa. marketing term for a tweaked LCD LED panel, whereas OLED is a different tech and superior.

Thanks - I am confused! Current TV is 40" and so a UHD like this should be fine. OLEDs seem to start at 55" which might be going just too big.
