1 year warranty. cold
Hardly cold just cos it only has a 1 year warranty duh. It's still a cracking price for the tv
1 year warranty is poor imo, Chances of mechanical fault within a year very low, 15 months in and tv plays up you will be liable for repair bills. 5 year offered at most places i.e currys and JL same if not a little extra £. Investing in a tv set is a better saving in the long run. Stay away from 1YW

You're talking bs about 5 year warranties available elsewhere. Most of the time only on top end models over £1000.
At least 95% of TVs come with a 1 year waranty. Do some research before writing some trash on here...

You have the option of a 5 year warranty if you want it though.

NO, you are in the wrong.

Exactly! some people on this forum have no idea!

Good luck with ur 1 year warranty OP! Im sure appliances direct will welcome your 2nd tv purchase next year! Or samsung will happily repair your dead pixels for over £200!

Had two TV's in the last 10 yrs, Samsung 37" LCD when the Xbox 360 was released (had for 6 yrs, no issues), followed by a 50" Panny plasma (4 years, no issues).

Bought the 55" version of this model TV with only 1 yr warranty. Taking a chance? No doubt.

But then those TV's and my current one only powered on for 7 hours a day for 5 days a week. Weekends are a bit hit and miss, depending on what i am doing.

Maybe you'de be interested to know that John Lewis's 5 year warranty only covers you fully for 1 year and the next 4 years for the parts only and the contribution is based on how many years is left - e.g. the 5th year they will only pay for 20% of the part and no labour. Try searching Google.
Schmucks think they will get a 48" Samsung 4K tv for only £485 with a 5 year guarantee...

Buy it for £100 more then and your will get it!
Wouldn't touch a Samsung LED again after the horror show i had with a 55" JU6800 and backlight bleed, also Samsung's customer service is basically "tough s**t , it's working to spec".
I voted hot, I have this TV . only had it two weeks, got it from John Lewis for 599.

My personal experience disagrees with this.
Paid £70 more for this tv 6 weeks ago. This is a great price, heat from me. It's a cracking tv.

Good luck getting a 5 year warranty at this price. I'm sure you can get one separately but that will bring it back up to a price more like JL's. You pays your money you takes your choice.
Any reviews of this set? Free GOLD HDMI cable swings it for me

you have a very apt username since you clearly made that up.
Got this from RS last month and I'm very happy. It was £599 then but came with a 6 year warranty. The warranty is arguably worth the difference between this retailer and RS or JL, but understand some people don't want it.

After my last Sony broke down with a faulty panel 3.5 years into a 5 year warranty, I'd never buy a decent tv without warranty.

Looked at the 55" JU6800 myself then found out it was an IPS panel and all the problems they can cause.
I love my AOC IPS monitor even if there is a little bit of bleed in the bottom left corner. You have to accept some backlight bleed with IPS panels.
Its out of stock on JL so most of the arguments are null and void

Heat from me as its the best price, warranties are a gamble my 10yr old 37inch Samsung still works so does my 3 year old 48inch LG. I'll take the saving and the risk personally rather than pay £115 just in case it fails.

in some older tvs, they used to include fans in the back, but I believe in these new ones they dont. Also alot of manufacturer have gone the route that you should upgrade your tv every x number of years.

voted hot because of price

What did you get? I'm in the market for the same thing (but it also needs to have a low input lag for gaming).

Got rid of it and picked up The LG 55EC930V and best thing I ever did. OLED knocks LED out of the ball park imo. Absolutely zero light bleed and no banding and the most stunning blacks I've ever seen on a tv.

Don't think many would disagree with you - but OLED is still mighty expensive for many of us.
Bought from RS a few weeks ago for 599, good telly. Happy to pay for the 6 yr warranty myself as last samsung had an issue after about 2 years.

Excellent price if you're on a budget though
Extra warranty is nice, but basing your decision on it is a little foolish. If you were likely to have an issue in 5 years they wouldn't offer it. Most failures are going to be in the first year and towards the end of life, the chance of a failure between 1 and 5 years is pretty low. And of course consumer rights makes things like TVs come under longer warranty periods if you want to challenge the issue.

So if it's a good deal just get it regardless. If you want more just pay for it on top.
Good price for 4k

£1000 for the Samsung 55" LED or £1300 for the 55" LG OLED. The LG is full HD only whereas the Sammy was U4K but seriously the picture quality on the LG just blows me away and in can live without 4K when the HD picture is this good. Build quality is also so much better on the LG. Watched Dredd3D last night and it just blew me away with the 3D performance. So chuffed with it and couldn't recommend it enough.
Bought the TV myself 3 weeks ago. The thing is a beauty.
Looks like the dropped the price even more to £483!
Waiting for a good deal that I can price match with JL or RS. Long guarantee is a must for me. Hot deal though!
£599 at Richer Sounds but with 6 year guarantee

£599 at Richer Sounds but with 6 year guarantee

yeah still a little too much for me. want to pay about £500. Happy to wait. My 8 yeah old Samsung is going strong.

silly that I want a guarantee really!
Under current legislation and EU directives it's entirely possible to get a repair etc free of charge or replacement/ refund well in excess of one year. A tv such as this will be expected to work for at least three years. All led TVs have a potential design fault that gives a double image when the panel fails. The panel is basically useless then. There is plenty of evidence to support this and I used this only last week to get a substantial refund on a Samsung series 6 tv that was four and half years old. So yes for absolute peace of mind a five year warranty is best but if you only have a one year guarantee you still have rights and remedies that extend extend well beyond one year
Bought the John Lewis deal price matched at £519
