This is a mid range all rounder TV and model of 2015. It is actually 2 months old, so packed with new features.

If you trade in old 32" any flat TV the price is £849 after samsung cashback.

You can also use O2 Priority moments £75 off for over thousand spend. Just buy something for £26 or take care plan and cancel that later (within 14 days).

If you can all of them successfully, a brand new Curve, 4K, 48" Smart TV is for £774 (974 - 75 -125)

seems pretty good price to me...have some heat

Nice screen. Should be fine with 60Hz/4K over HDMI if you have an Nvidia card.
I went with the Panasonic CX700 (50"/flat) in the end but it was a tough choice!

Seems good price, but nearly spat out my tea when I saw a nice curved 88" 3d tv for 20 grand with a lovely £300 discount for trading in my 32" Tv!

Shame no 3D.

How many of us watch 3D and how many days a year? I doubt.

What is the difference with this and the UE48JU6500? All I can gather online is a slight design change. Power Direct have the 48JU6500 for £850 + £125 trade in: powerdirect.co.uk/ind…tml

The UE48JU6740 is the top model of the 6000 series with a slightly higher refresh rate, 1200 rather than 1100.
That means that when watching fast moving action, e.g sport, you should notice less blur etc.

Do you know when this offer will end?

Almost £800 more for the 55 inch version, crazy pricing by currys.

I could be wrong but the 6740 variants seem only to be sold by currys group so likely just some sort of ploy to avoid price matches?I would go for the 6500 myself but all depends on the deal on the table.

Shame the £125 tradein is not taken off at checkout though, would be a much more attractive offer if it was.
Not sure though if currys would allow 2 promotions to be used together, small print in O2 Priority moments voucher states it cannot be used with any other offer although i appreciate it is a samsung / currys offer but if currys honour both on one receipt i would be surprised.

I believe as a rule of thumb curved TVs aren't 3D. Its like a toss up between curved 4k or 3D

I know some cinemas whos screens follow that same rule. Huge widescreen curved screens but unable to show 3D.

i take it these look shtie wall mounted

Actually sold a fair few of these and they are fantastic TVs. Crazy to think that a 50' Sony 1080p costs £899. Albeit with android. Not much use to an apple man though but for android users I'd say that Sony have cracked the OS

Everything looks **** wall mounted - that's what we did back when flat TVs were a new thing, it was a novelty.

My kids love 3D. To some its a gimmick but the kids enjoy it and i love watching nature programs in 3D, it's beautiful! So because it is not to your taste that doesn't mean you have to criticise people that do like it. Its also a good party entertainment for people who haven't had the experience of a 3D TV yet!

arguments over 3d

The "curve" should only appear on 65" screens or larger. On this kind of size it is not really worth it unless you sit 1m away from the screen. Cinema screens are curved because they are huge and you need a big screen to replicate that immersive feeling. Otherwise you are just looking at a stupid curve for no reason. Unless you have a curved corner area of a specific size to fill of course Oh and NEVER wall mount curved screens; they look stupid.

Errr. No.

The bigger a TV gets, the better it looks wall mounted. I mean PROPERLY wall mounted. All my cabling goes through the chimney breast and comes out beside my AV rack in the corner of the room. No cables whatsoever visible from the TV.

But curved TV's? Nope. I think a few of them can be wall mounted but they look daft.

We watch 3d movies all the time in my household and always will do

People know curved tv's are a gimmick by now don't they? Cos it seems like people are still buying them by mistake.

Curved TV + 4K = Fail!

Heat added!

What's you Panasonic like for gaming? Any noticeable lag?

It's hooked up to my PC as the primary display and it's pretty impressive.
The GTX 970 is coping admirably but I am saving up for a 980 Ti.

I did have concerns about lag but honestly can't see anything to complain about.
(Note: forcing HDCP 2.2 @ 3840x2160 did cause lag). No going back to my old Dell U2412M

Does anyone have an O2 priority voucher (over £1000 spend) for curry's they can send me? (don't even know how O2 priority works and if it's possible?) would really appreciate it, thanks.

I don't have one as I have used that. But you can get free O2 PAYG sim and use a smart phone to install the App.

I'm assuming that I would need to have the sim in said smart phone to use the app or do I just need a sim to create an O2 account? Sorry, I'm poorly educated :p. My phone is locked so that's why I'm clarifying.

All you need is O2 sim into any phone. Then try to install app in you smart phone by using O2 PAYG number and O2 will send a verification number into you O2 connected phone. Use that code into you any network smart phone. This should work.

Sorted it, cheers mate!
