Not 4K so not future proofed. Voted cold.

1080p vs 4K on a 49 inch at typical viewing distance will be a minimal difference in general use, and the lack of 4K sources at the moment means 1080p will likely be better for viewing anything 1080p or below (i.e. 90% of sources)
Who actually spends £1500 on a tv..

This is a decent price for a TV set

Yup, and when it does current 4K TVs won't be able to receive it because the tuners won't have the right hardware and the broadcasters won't bother to update five year old apps.

Future proofing is just marketing nonsense in the TV world. Buy what is best for what you're likely to be watching in the next year or two. If that's Freeview/Freesat and equivalent catch-up then this is one of the best choices around.

The main reason to not go for this model is that the brightness isn't as high as it could be (not great on summer evenings) and there are adverts in the menu (yuck).

Plenty of people spend hundreds of pounds a year on stuff to watch. Netflix, SkyQ, ITV Hub, Amazon Prime etc. A £1500 TV once a decade in that context isn't a big extravagance.
RGB has the worst delivery and worst customer service I ever saw. Cancelling my order now as they lied today saying that they tried to call me and they just “missed” the deliver. What a terrible company as the customer service said that I could be the one lying!!! Will never buy anything there again, please do the same.
