Get John Lewis to price match Crampton and Moore's 519 quid price for 5 years warranty. 22 quid more for 4 year's extra warranty from one of the most respected names in UK retail is IMO a far better deal. Got to to be honest, the website here wouldn't inspire confidence in me. Not voting either way. Sorry.

Just to be clear. It is a guarantee that you get from John Lewis not a warranty. The gaurantee is far better. It means that regardless of issue, if it can't be fixed you are guaranteed a replacement model which will be like for like, or if the model is no longer available you will get a newer equivalent. A warranty would mean in the event of a device malfunctioning, they will try to fix it, but if it can't be fixed it's a loss, and replacement will be offered. Obviously a guarantee is what you want, and this is why it's always better to go with richer sounds who offer 6 year guarantee, or John Lewis who offer 5 years. There really is no sense in purchasing elsewhere unless they offer this same level guarantee.

Sorry, I meant to write a replacement will NOT be offered in the case of a warranty claim.

Agreed. The thing that makes JL's price match much better than RS's is the fact that JL don't insist on the TV you want a price match on has a comparable (i.e 5 year) warranty/guarantee whereas RS do (which makes their price match just empty words imo).

If you get JLs to match the price would be a really good deal.

Just for everybody benefit, what are the steps to get a piece matched by JLs?

Just to be clear, JL won't price match this deal as the competitor needs to have a bricks and mortar store but it's 519 quid at Crampton and Moore who do have bricks and mortar shops.

It's a pretty simple process, actually, should take no more than 10 minutes. JL are usually pretty quick to respond and if they agree you get a personal case reference, go ahead and buy the TV at JL price then when you've received the TV simply email JL quoting your case reference and they will issue a refund for the agreed amount.

While those are John Lewis' terms and conditions (mostly, not all issues are covered), there's no such distinction generally. Just look at the consumer rights act:

I'd say Richer Sounds price match is fantastic. If others cannot compete with them so be it however they set the standard and create huge competition which benefits the consumer hugely.

Hmmm...very good company but try and get them to price match this TV with Crampton and Moore and they will say no due to non-comparable warranty. No such problem with JL. It could be a sixty year warranty because they aint giving it to you.

Got this TV and price matched at JL.

@knivesuk did you get it for the above price.

£489 co-op

Beat me to it. Need to use the voucher code CPT40 at the checkout to knock £40 off the advertised price of £529.

John Lewis might even match the £489 co-op price.

I'm just wondering how this TV compares to the 50" UE50MU6120 that I ordered from JL for £449 last weekend.

5% quidco too but Co op dont do NI delivery!

That'll do me - Which know their stuff, so I'll refrain from cancelling my JL order! £449 for a Which Best Buy 50" TV with 5 year guarantee has got to be a decent deal. If it isn't, I give up!

Phoned JL to price match the Coop for the Samsung 6400. £489 with the CPT40 code but say that if I can't find that code on the actual coop website they won't price match. Is that normal?

Send them a screenshot of the £40 being deducted when the code is entered. If they won't price match after that cast iron evidence is shoved under their snouts then personally I'd just buy it from co-op!

The John Lewis 5 year guarantee is worth paying £529, or the 6 years with richer sounds is even better.

My good man, I am saying no such thing. What I am in fact saying is that I haven't got a scooby-doo how any of these TV's fare against each other. So I'm happy to put my faith in Which?
Tomorrow I will be taking delivery of a Samsung UE50MU6120. £449 from JL, which includes a 5 year guarantee. So I'd be reluctant to pay the same price without the 5 year guarantee.

I've got absolutely nothing against Richer Sounds, but my own personal opinion on which is the better - a 5 year guarantee from JL or a 6 year guarantee from RS - is that JL are more likely to be around in 5 years time to honour an extended guarantee.

do you have a copy of the report, what does it say about the 6400? Really struggling for which one too buy . may be looking at the next size up though, not sure if that would make any difference?

Got this bad boy for £489.00 with 5 year guarantee at John Lewis. Rang them and they price matched with CO-OP ELECTRICAL online which has code CPT40 BUT WITHOUT 5 YEAR GUARANTEE FOR £489.00.

WELL WORTH THE PRICE WITH A WELL KNOWN RETAILER

Did you phone customer service? I sent a form for price match and they wouldn’t accept it as it was a third party code..

Same here, I messaged them via live chat and they said they wouldn't match the price with the discount code.

Bought! In my case JL did not price match with it supplier. Used CPT40 with coop. Thanks!
