Does that come with 5 years warranty however?

I got a 55 inch curved Samsung (4k etc etc) from JL in the Boxing day sale this year for £650... so feel the TV itself here is a little overpriced to compensate for the 'free' blu ray player

Curved TV proved to be an unpopular fad and bombed, that's why they are cheap, plus this is likely to be a higher spec than the TV you bought

Not sure that's true, a quick browse on JL and they are still selling the range of curved Samsungs, and at a higher price than I paid. If they really bombed that bad and they wanted rid of them not sure why they would still carry a premium over the flat models.

I'm not enough of an expert to compare TV models, but yes my model is a year older and this one has a little more PQI. But it's also 5 inches bigger and cost £150 less.

I'm not saying this isn't a good buy... I'm just saying wait for Black Friday/Boxing Day as it seems pricey to me. I was in the market for one for months and they were all hanging out around £850 for a decent 55 inch set, and then boom on boxing day I get one for £200 less. Just saying.

Not sure if John Lewis are doing it but Richer Sounds have said they will refund any price decreases between now and Black Friday

You hit the nail on the head right there, "Samsung"..... everyone else dropped it, I don't need any more confirmation than that, it simply makes no sense for Sony and LG to drop a money spinner and blow a stack load of R&D.

In terms of price, you need to compare apples with apples, as you admit that you don't know much about TVs, I doubt you have in your price comparisons. They don't always make it easy to compare as the model numbers don't always cross reference, plus they tend to be bigger which will up the price. It may be that they are charging more because there are still people who see them as "premium" so why wouldn't you exploit that gullibility if you can? (it's not done Apple any harm!! ).

Don't get me wrong, I can see the point if you go to 65"+ but for anything smaller, it's just a gimmick which has more cons than pros

Sorry, can't hear you over the sound of my really sweet looking and totally immersive curved TV

There's always the curved TV haters on here, doesn't bother me as different people like different things. Although it's amusing they always seem to be some kind of self styled TV experts

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend your precious TV I wasnt being horrible or offensive, you made a comment to which I politely answered so I don't get your abrasive response?

To be clear, I didn't say YOU were gullible as you said you paid a decent price and I'm far from a 'TV expert' if I was, I wouldn't be on here checking out every TV thread looking for one that conclusively scores well.

If you like curved, that's great, if you love your TV that's even better, I personally don't like curved and whether you want to accept it or not, most others don't either hence them being dropped. But that doesn't mean that I'm saying you're a mug for getting one (incidentally, my OH likes curved!!), I was merely pointing out that you can't compare one TV with another solely on price as you did as there are a multitude of other factors to consider.

Let's not make this into a war, life is too short, these are TVs after all
