Fantastic price
omgggggggggg
Perfect. Can it record? HDR?
Is this one worth buying now or do you think it would be better to wait till Friday?
Why no 3D? Seems daft not to include it as there are still a lot of BDs coming out in 3D.

This is a 2014 model. It probably wont come down much further. IMHO

Not everyone cares about 3D. Less gimmicks on TV better response time and fewer things can go wrong. This tv is all about great picture with reasonable price

Buy now don't buy a Polaroid friday
Oh **** paid £699 for it last Thursday!
Good find!
I haven't been keeping up with tvs recently, but from the last thread on this (when it was a whole pound more expensive) I gathered that this could be one of two different types of panel. One is really good, whereas one is not. Has anybody managed to establish which one of the two it is? I'm not actually convinced it makes any difference to me, but I'm just interested.
the 55 inch is £889 at Costco or £899 at John Lewis and Currys
does this set allow have a pvr function to record programs and pause live tv.

The 55" in Holland has a panel by BOE. No other panel manufacturers listed for this model although the last 4 letters for the dutch version is different to ours.

UE55JU6800WXXN = Dutch version
UE55JU6800KXXU = UK

It would appear the 50" version of this tv has the Innolux panel (in Holland)

Panels may be different for the UK but I suppose that may depend where they are made for both markets. Or it may make no difference at all.

The only way to tell for sure is someone who has bought one to access their service menu and provide the option or type code. Or to cheekily access one on demo in the stores.

We could just ask Samsung to confirm. Surely under the Freedom of Information Act they have a legal duty to tell us f we ask which panel or panel are in any of their models.

Let's see this price drop on Friday or Monday then I'm cashing in
Yes I read that also. Outstanding for the 50" and excellent for the 55". I also looked at the LG UF770v which was at the bottom of my list and they only gave that 3 stars.

Panasonic 680B and 700B have outstanding also with Sony at 3 to 4 star depending on the model.

Freedom of Information Act only applies to government/public institutions. It doesn't apply to private companies.
You could ask them nicely though, they might give out the info, if anyone you speak to actually knows.
55" have bad screen made by china, 50" is made by samsung. Shame, because is with only one old basic remote controll

Haha, yes I know that lol but even if it did cover private or corporate companies they would still find some excuse not to give us the info though looking at some american forums it would appear they have the panel codes stamped on the boxes. It may make some difference to some but at the end of the day if it looks good to the user then that is all that counts, and it's reliability of course.

According to samsung parts company in Holland the 50" sold over there has the Innolux (Chi Mei) panel and not samsung Part number of the only panel listed is BN95-02447B INX;CY-TJ050HGNV2V,JS6900,PT

The INX in the panel code would indicate this is an Innolux panel and not Samsung. Obviously the models shipped over here have a slightly different model number and therefore perhaps a different panel but until such time people who have bought them can confirm a panel code, then it would seem likely that the models shipped here would be the same as Holland.

So essentially this is £700 of cheap Taiwanese panel!? Not cool if so, because beyond the glossy plastic and bubbly UI's, it's the screen itself that matters...

Well perhaps not. I have one of their panels in our bedroom tv and it has a very good picture. It's an IPS too but am happy with the screen quality.

I've generally held Samsung in higher regard than most other brands, but have a soft spot for Sony, as the contrast seems great on the VA panels they use.

...otherwise I've more sad news for this model, it seems that despite the lofty 1400 PQI number, this is infact a boggo 60Hz panal; avforums.com/thr…e-3
There seems to be a lot of miss-information going around about this TV and what panel it has in each size. If you can be bothered to read the whole of this thread it was assumed the 55 inch had the Chinese IPS panel: https://www.avforums.com/threads/samsung-ue-ju6800-4k-tv-owners-thread.1979754/page-10

But you will also find some comments contradicting this and even the initial research that led to this conclusion was sketchy at best. It has not come from Samsung. You will also find some people that have had bad experiences with the 50 inch whilst others have had good experiences with the 55 inch and vice-versa.

So draw your own conclusions. But if you read the whole of the thread you should discover there is no outright conclusion that the 55 inch is worse than the 50.

I don't particularly care what panel my 50ins has got as i am blown away by the picture quality and surely that's what matters with a tv? As i have paid for a Samsung it would be comforting to know it has a Samsung panel in it but as long as its reliable that's all that really concerns me.
So tempted... But might wait till the weekend.

But then a lot of people are saying wait for HDR so confused...
Just make it simple IPS panels got good color uniformity but lacks of Black =Grey!!
VA panels are good with Color and Black butt some experts say that colors are over the top Grass greener then it actually is!
TN panels are poor for color and blacks butt are cheap to produce and fast for gaming!
So if you are comparing a tv in saloon and your pc monitor, laptop screen, tablet ,Ipad or smartphone you get a different jugment! For my Eyes VA Is better then IPS. I was blown away by Sony KD65x8509cb and Oleds which are coming down in price!

I do love Sony's pictures quality but what puts me off is android operating system in them.
Yes! Wee need android tv and a magic remotes butt Samsung got Tizen,Panasonic FireFox,Lg WEBoS, just Philips and Sony Androids butt I want to buy a mid-range Tablet with 55 screen or 55 tv with built in tablet
What puts me off smart tellies is my total lack of faith that the manufacturers will continue supporting OS updates beyond about a maximum of a year and a half, if the same manufacturer’s track record with similarly technology-endowed phones is anything to go by.

Thanks for this, found the review helpful however the review says it has a freesat tuner. Currys website says freeview only.. which is correct?

Yes, all those high numbers by Samsung trying to confuse the consumer. PQi is double to whatever they were using last year yet the tv is still only 60Hz in real terms which is what we all want to know. Why can't manufacturers just be honest. It may do them some favours as well as sales. Don't forget we had 100Hz tv's 20 years ago!! My LG is 100Hz and it wasn't a lot of money, £499.00 for a 50".
