As the newer models are out (UE55ES8000) I thought I'd check how this bad boy TV had dropped in price. Most places are £1600+ but Hyperfi had it for £1400. This is a very good price for that model which has held value above £1800 for a while.

If you dont need the latest ES8000 version, this D8000 would save you about £400

I would rather place £200 extra at the other place and buy a brand new rather than display model.

Review... which.co.uk/tec…ew/

Score 76% 'Best Buy' (highest score of all TVs tested as at last time I was a Which? subscriber)

Pros: Almost faultless picture quality, stunning 3D, super lightweight 3D glasses, brilliantly versatile smart TV options, wi-fi, exceptionally low energy use, a cinch to use, looks fantastic

Cons: Synthetic sound, web browsing is a pain, picture can fade from an angle, YouTube app not as versatile as last years' models, the enormous price tag is hard to swallow

not buying... just curious... but where does it say online its ex display? it say 1399 and you can add it to basket.

Personally, if its only 200 more for a brand new one, thats a much better offer, rather than a tv thats been on constantly for 9 + hours a day for what, 6 months?

Way overpriced for display model

cold, i agree its over priced for a display model, even @ 55 inches.

This will have been on for 100s of hours. I'd pay the extra and get a new one personally.

Yep, probably been left on 24/7 and getting near its end of life.

At least the contrast, brightness and colour settings would have been set to full for that *wow! punchy image* look, which would probably look good in a shop, but would burn your eyes out at home,

I've got the 46" model and that's awesome in game mode (with CoD)

£1400 for a display model, no thanks

Ex display. Good as second hand. Wouldn't pay more than just over a grand. Some poor sucker will probably fall for these con men.

A second hand one would quite likely have had lower usage. Ought to be 50% off at very least, unless you can check the usage timer and find otherwise - assuming this TV has a hidden engineer/service menu.
