What's that you got on there Buzz? Is that the one with Stallone?
Is this the same tv for £1283.13
Ok you will need to pay a bit extra for warranty.

at least they're dropping the price to something sane. Needs to go down alot more to get people to consider shifting from their 1080p sets though.
heat, but will hold off for the later generations myself.
WOW seems so cheap for a 4k tv? sure sounds good and alot stuff on it, cant wait till these get cheaper in few years time, as for now it seems really hot price.

It is the same, However Dabs generally only supply items with 12 months warranty.

You could also get quite a few zoverstocks dvd/blu rays for this price. However the people demand 55 inch 4k LED tv's ahead of a world cup
If you get richer sounds to price match and a warranty at 10% off tv price.
Would be £1411.43 i think £87.57 cheaper.

The price promise states £100 off the price match, So would it be £1183.13 + 5 year warranty?

i guess being 6900 makes it not quite the 7/8/9 series top-end models.

I had a UE8000 but then it had to be replaced and I got an F7000 last year which is better in many ways... can't see a driver to go for a 4k set at the moment but that thing was around £1,700.

Guessing the price being pushed down also by curved sets (which, in this size, I don't see as more than a gimmick - perhaps in the 80" size yes)
£1301.44 inc 5 year warranty and £197.56 cheaper

Is this better or the Sony KDL-55W829? Should also be out in the end of May or June.

The Sony KDL-42W829 seems to be getting quite some heat:

Yup this is 4K, but just wondering if anyone knows about other aspects - i know the sony has a low input lag so good for gaming.
Other models are known to have banding issues and clouding but the Sony seems to be quite reliable
I am just saying on what I have been told, dont really know much about them but want to get a good one in the next month or so and want to spend 1000-1500. Thanks

Its all situational, I personally would go for the 4K TV, But that's me wanting to get the most up to date tech, Although there is not too much in terms of 4K media at the moment.
4k will be cheaper now as nobody is buying it as unless you have a good computer there is little access to true 4k content.

Not quite.. " £20 price match on products £1001-3000" so you would get it for £1262 plus 5 year warranty

IF.. they price match. Anyone had any experience with their 5 year warranty?
Nothing to watch on them yet, apart from a few YouTube videos, and soon to be Breaking Bad on Netflix.

Best to wait a year or two for all the kinks to be ironed out on these I think. They'll be even cheaper then too.

Yeah I noticed after I had typed, My question is, Would they still honor the 5 year warranty if matching it against a product with 1 year warranty?
No 3D, only 200MHz smoothflow.

Well it does have HDMI 2.0

Is it futureproof? Will it last 8years+? Looking to buy a new TV and speakers etc - full home cinema system.
Is this the 2013 or 2014 model?
200MHz smoothflow. ... this is crap...
200Mhz is fantastic ...& surely represents the greatest quantum leap in TV technology specifications ever (_;) - most TVs only have a refresh rate of a lowly 50hz -> 100Hz.

Excellent point. Also I wonder how good their 5 year warranty is (pro rate replacement by vouchers if they cant fix e.t.c) Anyone used the warranty before??

Unless you have money to waste people who buy this product right now with limited 4k content content are do exactly that. Wasting money.

Valid point but if you are looking to buy a new 55"+ TV in the next couple of months you would be hell of a silly spending similar funds on a 1080p panel. By the same token I don't think now is the time to upgrade to this TV if you already have a similar sized decent 1080p TV.

This is really all about future-proofing more than anything ...
Yes. But what are you actually going to watch on it? What 4K content is there out there to watch?

Netflix House of Cards or mastered in 4K Blu-Ray??

Unforunately it was the exact same problem when Full HD TV's were introduced very little to no High Definition content was available to the average user. 4K content will come in the next year or so ...

I don't think anyone is advocating buying a new TV for 4K. But rather if one is buying a TV of this size anyway, 4K sets such as this are getting to a price point where they are worth considering. There may be a dearth of material to watch on it now, but a TV of this size is likely to be used as the primary set for some time (I doubt many would buy a 55" set as a stop gap, to relegate to the bedroom in a year or two) and therefore cross over to the period when 4K material will be available.
