Hot, anyone know the input lag on this one, will mainly be used for gaming.

is this UK spec ? with UK free view ? as looks like comes from the Netherlands.

It's a good price but can anyone explain to me the point of a curved screen please?

I think its so you can also use it as a skate ramp if you put it on the floor. Dont quote me on that, as I may be wrong.

I guess it's because your eye isn't flat and curved?

The curve is a gimmick. it will die just like 3D.

3D isn't dead..

I'm a bit on the fence about curved TVs. It's depends on where it will be used. If your TV sits in the corner of a room, then it works great. But if you have it wall mounted, it just looks hideous.

If you sit at the centre of the screen's radius of curvature, all parts of the screen are equidistant from you. It's the same reason cinema screens are curved (though screens that large are the only ones that actually need it even slightly, to be honest).

i cant believe the curve idea needs explained

I know, I thought the skate ramp purpose was obvious!

Can't find any reviews on this TV

iBood are awful when it comes to returns. I had to turn to Paypal for a refund when things went wrong recently. Personally I wouldn't deal with again

Is that not for the benefit of the projector though?

Curved TV's fit great inside lighthouses.

Correct.

It's for the projector. Nothing to do with the audience or making it "more immersive".

So there is no reason to have a curved screen except maybe to impress the neighbours? I have a friend that has the UE55HU8500 - it's a fantastic TV with so many features, but I just don't get the curved thing! sure - there's a sweet-spot for one viewer but for everyone else they have a smaller viewing angle than they would have with a flat screen?

(Think this is an old model the Samsung website only lists HU7200, HU8100 and HU8500 - although tempting I'll wait for a good priced Panasonic LCD)

Curved TV's are largely pointless. Unless you go over 100 inch screen size and sit VERY close. It's all marketing garbage. Rather than try and sell us pointless stuff like curved screens, I wish they would focus their efforts on OLED now that plasma has died a death. Because LCD/LED ain't up to the task ....

If you really hunt about you might get your hands on one of the last remaining plasmas (an ST maybe? Or a VT or ZT if you fancy pushing the boat out). Still better than all the LCD based stuff out there ....

Are your neighbours always at your house? I've been to the neighbours but just to the bedroom

There only seems to be one OLED screen out there which is LG. Think that is curved too lol

It's supposed to get you more involved in the action or in other words to make the film etc seem more "real". I have only ever seen a couple of the curved TV's that have managed this though.

I was thinking of the AX802B (50/58 inch ver.)... surely it's better than one of these old plasmas?

Perhaps you should read this … Perhaps you should read this http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/4k-3d-201501273992.htm

I’d be pretty surprised if the 4k blu-ray standard doesn’t at least include provision for 3d. Granted, it didn’t take off as much as was hoped for, but it still has a lot of fans out there and there are a lot of 3d movies to choose from now.

A lot of people have only just upgraded to standard HD sets. Not many are going to want to make the outlay again to buy a 4k set for a while, especially as there’s so little 4k content available just yet. No support for 3d would just be another reason to put off upgrading.

Oh, and I don’t get why people are so happy that plasma isn’t popular anymore. My parents recently bought a fairly expensive Sony LCD and my 4 year old Panasonic plasma blows it out of the water for picture quality

Not in my eyes. (And I looked at a few 4k's when I bought my last one. I also looked at OLED but still too expensive for now ... and I don't want curved!)

They're LCD based. Plasma > LCD. No contest. End of. Full stop.

Also not in the eyes of this group test:

hdtvtest.co.uk/new…htm

They put an AX up against an "old plasma" in the ZT. And also an OLED. The ZT still won the group vote. The AX didn't get a single vote for best overall. Although it did win best 4k.

I run a VT plasma. I won't be replacing it for a few years yet I don't think ....

If I was buying a new TV today, I'd go on a HUGE hunt and see if I could find one of the last good plasmas. If that turned up nothing, then I'd think about things like the AX range ....

Well done that man for crushing me. No 3D, no sale for me. I find 3D films so much more enjoyable, besides it is too hard to binge eat watching 3D so they are better for my health.

Well we were told how great Flat screens were.

Now its time to tell us that they were wrong & that its all about curved.

Then back to flat in a few years time

No CS, very poor company to deal with. Ordered a camera on January 1st, was due to ship 14th. Nothing heard by 19th, messaged them to cancel order. No reply. Opened a PayPal case on 20th, no reply. E-mail from them on 21th to say product has shipped, messaged same day to ask why as I had cancelled the order two days earlier, no reply. Refused delivery, Week later I received an e-mail to say they had received the camera back and may refund in a few days. I messaged back to say they need to refund urgently, no reply. Was eventually refunded few days later. Suggest you avoid if only for your own sanity.

Curved TV's also help with reflections, squeezing a whole window reflection into a single point so it is less pronounced from your viewing angle.

People seem to be forgetting the MASSIVE plus point you get with curved TV's. If somebody you know purchases one, it's a cast iron certification that they are an idiot. Just in case you were not sure about it.
