699 pounds delivered for the 2016 base model 4k samsung tv. Not high end but at nearly 300 less than the rrp I cant find a comparable 55 inch 2016 4k premium brand tv at the same price point.

I've got one arriving today, Appliance Electronics called to say they will be bringing the tv and setting it up foc.

mikefs, could you please let us know how you find the TV and more importantly service from Appliance Electronics? I have never used them before and not heard much of them either...

I'll keep you posted - they are going to call me when close then set the tv up for me to review - i guess this mitigates their risk of having a return (and mine). I set my last tv up from richer sounds and found the screen was smashed and had to return it so pretty happy about the free setup

Just a quick update as promised,

Appliance electronics were great, they didn't put the stand on the tv but they did bring it in, unpacked it, plugged it in, checked it was working and gave me significant opportunity to review the tv - from what I can tell its the same guys who deliver all over the country so a bit more of a personal touch rather than yodel etc... I would definitely order from them again.

Like most of us my access to 4k content is limited at the moment but the tv is good, picture looks great, I haven't had much time to play with it but so far so good. I have one niggling problem that I'm trying to sort out/work around - there's no Bluetooth adaptor in this model and hence no smart remote. There is an app on android and ios but not one on my crummy windows phone which means i dont have a smart controller. This is rectifiable if i can just prise the ipad from my daughters hands. I have now got smart view working on the pc though which works as a replacement and I love being able to just stream to and from the tv through wireless although I dont know what the limitations are around casting 4k content etc?

Love Samsung smart view though, allows me to stream wireless
Thanks for the update! Any chance you could also check light bleed and screen uniformity in a completely dark room on a black/blank screen please? Im just about getting ready to pull the trigger on the 65 or 60 version of this...
already done that, it looks amazing - the blacks are completely black! I couldn't see any light bleed or clouding whatsoever.

good question and I did order that one but cancelled my order because they wouldn't upgrade me to the 6400 that came into stock for £30 more and still give me the 20% discount.

Thats last years base 6000 model though and has a PQI (picture quality index) rating of 800 - this years base model here has a PQI of 1300

for comparison last years JU6800 has a PQI of 1400 and the 60 inch got to 268 degrees yesterday @ £999

I honestly dont know much about it all but apparently this years models have better brightness and better contrast levels which I guess is reflected in the PQI figures but the ju6800 (link above) has a nano crystal display?!?

I think Id still go with the new model though.

Newer models definitely the ones to go for... Much improved smart system and also have basic hdr capability! Have ordered the 60" KU6000!

the 2015 models now have hdr with a software update. but the new smart system is much faster and better looking, not as intrusive either.
is this better than the samsung JU6800 model?

the consensus seems to be yes but not a massive difference between the two, apparently the smart system is much improved but the PQI level is slightly lower so I cant really say for sure - its close so I guess if the ju6800 was cheaper by 100 then that would be the one to go for but I wouldn't pay the same for last years model
