Samsung UE55MU6400 Ultra HD Certified HDR 4K Smart TV, 55" with TVPlus & Active Crystal Colour, Silver

Marvel at the glorious, colour-rich detail of the HDR 4K UHD picture with Samsung's MU6400. Active Crystal Colour tech achieves a staggering array of luscious colour. See every detail in a glorious sunset, witnessing amazing brightness and contrast for a beautifully lifelike picture. Access a world of online entertainment via Samsung's Smart Hub, and control all compatible devices via one remote control. The spectacular visuals of the MU6400 will revolutionise your home viewing.
HDR with Active Crystal Colour
Samsung are one of the forerunners of colour-boosting High Dynamic Range (HDR). As members of the UHD Alliance, they've engineered HDR heightened by their Active Crystal Colour technology. This tech delivers over 17 million colours and a 20% wider colour space than conventional UHD. This makes shades sharper, the image deeper, and colours endlessly rich. Plus the screen's UHD Dimming achieves more realistic shadow detail and contrast too. Being able to independently adjust tone, brightness and sharpness in different areas around the screen gives a stunningly realistic picture quality.
4K UHD with Upscaling
The MU6400's Certified Ultra HD 4K resolution screen takes you to the next level of viewing experience. Four times the number of pixels of 1080p Full HD delivers stunning realism, natural motion and incredible detail. Experience this high-spec picture on everything you watch thanks to 4K upscaling. Samsung's innovative upscaling technology converts lower resolution content to a level of detail near UHD. Meanwhile the brand's Auto Motion Plus processing ensures even the very fastest action, like sports or action movies, is always smooth and blur-free.
Ultra Clean View
Give your old favourites a sparkling makeover with Ultra Clean View. This clever tech analyses the input signal and reduces distortion and visual noise. So no matter what the content, it'll always be a ravishing picture of crispness and clarity.
Samsung Smart Hub
Now faster, with ultra-high definition streaming, catch-up and games services, is the latest Smart Hub platform. This quick and easy platform marks a massive step forward for the connected home. Access the latest apps to experience the best UHD content from Netflix and Amazon*. You can even browse content easily, searching for your favourite programmes and movies while you are still watching TV. Powering the seamless interaction is the powerful Quad Core processor which significantly boosts performance with faster access to Smart features. Enjoy super-fast response times, as you use and toggle between apps, online services and live TV with ease. You can even use voice control by engaging S Voice on the remote.
One Remote
Get rid of the clutter of multiple controls. The Samsung One Remote can control all your compatible devices for seamless multi-tasking. So with compatible components you can switch channels on your set-top box, adjust the volume on the sound bar, or surf the web on the big screen, all via one controller.
Samsung TVPlus
Experience easy access to the latest movies via your TV guide in addition to all your traditional TV channels. Whether you’re browsing for the latest Hollywood blockbuster or trying to find Ultra HD content, expand your viewing options through a wealth of additional Smart channels with Samsung TV Plus. Watch subscription free content with on-air and catch-up services (charges apply for premium on-demand content).

Currently £849 on RS. Brand new line so would find it extremely unlikely it was clearance an not anywhere near that price even for 49"

PEOPLE VOTING COLD AGAIN. WHY do people vote cold but rarely comment why. Is it a person thing rather than an item one? Really cannot understand it

sunter18
Don't get stressed out about cold voters, a lot of people vote cold because its not a TV they want or think highly of (ie this one is a mid range set and people may be looking for a higher spec) or its the size they don't like etc.

Perfectly good deal, can only be found cheaper if you aren't fussed about the 5 year warranty. Voted hot

Original Poster

Cheers. Gets a little frustrating when people continually vote posts cold with no explanation. Had posts voted cold when others post up inferior deal on same item and it gets hot.

Want desperately to upgrade the Tv, more so as just had the Uhd you view box installed but find it difficult to know how good the deal actually is if people vote cold for no reason. So please people explain, is it a good TV, is it a good deal and if not why not.

Looks a good deal, don't worry about -ve voters,if you like what you see and it fits your budget and ticks all the boxes on your check list ,then Buy it and enjoy there is always going to be a newer model/version what ever you choose .

Think you also have to trade In your old 32" or above tv to be eligible for the £100 cash back.

According to leaflet you just have to send details of your old tv, they don't actually want it.

Could not get Oled for anything like £700. Not sure these old eyes would notice the difference either lol

Unless it's much improved over the KU6400 it wouldn't be my first choice at £800. I'd rather have a DX750 or similar.

They don't match codes as far as I am aware. It was £749 with code yesterday but runs out on Wednesday and I'm not ready to buy until weekend.

@sunter18
How did you get them to price match while the same model is listed as £919 on coop?

Never mind. I asked john lewis to price match with a local shop in Brighton for £799 and thankfully they've accepted it. Ordered the last remaining in stock. Thanks OP. Hope it proves to be a good bargain.

Anyone who bought this received it yet? JL delivering mine on 29 July but keen to hear any first impressions.

I received it 2 days later. I upgraded from 40" to 55" and my first impression was that the screen is massive for my living room. I hope I'll get used to it. Speaking of the screen, it's gorgeous and the upscaling is impressive. I'm not sure what hdr does as I've not been able to spot any difference other than a higher resolution. Maybe that's because it's not 10 bit. Only downside is the sound quality which is horrible, worse than my previous Samsung 40" telly.

Update: The telly's screen has went blank and there's only audio. Therefore, I don't recommend this telly. Hope JL replace with a different make or model.

Sorry to hear that. I'm awaiting the 55" so not good to hear! That said, JL are usually pretty good to deal with and the 55" is now no longer listed on their site so I'm sure they'll sort you out.

Any idea what you'll go for as an alternative?
Edited by: "creepyg" 23rd Jul

This one is my favourite choice in this price range:

m.johnlewis.com/son…698

A little smaller in size but with 10 bit HDR and android. Out of stock right now, so hope it'll be back in stock soon.

This would be my second …This would be my second choice:https://m.johnlewis.com/panasonic-50dx802b-led-hdr-4k-ultra-hd-3d-smart-tv-50-with-freeview-play-freetime-sound-bar-art-interior-freestyle-design-ultra-hd-certified/p/2711522

Both look like fine choices. If only the tech of the Sony could exist in the chassis of the Panasonic.

Have JL gave any indication as to how they will proceed?

I missed their call and couldn't get in touch with them because of weekend. I'll contact them first thing in the morning and update you on this.

Update: This morning I called JL about the replacement and they proceeded with it without any questions asked. I guess the issues with this model are known, that's why I was offered the replacement straightaway. After giving it a second thought I went for LG as a replacement

This is the replacement I went for:

m.johnlewis.com/lg-…135

I had to pay extra £150, but the specs look promising. I hope I win this gamble ✌

Very nice! Hope it's as good as it looks and you're happy with it. Thanks for the update.

If anybody is still looking I got JL to knock another £50 off by price-matching Hughes. Hughes discount code ends today though. So that's £649 factoring in price-match and Samsung cashback.

Also, got this TV delivered on Saturday and been very impressed so far. FH3 looks awesome!

Do you have proof, Hughes are doing £40 off this month and JL just got back into stock, I did not think they matched codes and seeing someone else got it may sway them if we argue. Did you also get the £100 cashback?
