£849 at Electrical Discount

55 feet? D'yum that's a big ass TV.

Really good tv. I got this for £758 with soundbar on Black Friday (PM with Co-op, as purchased fro JL)Picture is great however does suffer for occasional judder on slow moving images at first. However I worked with settings and reduced it to a acceptable level. I would recommend this TV to anyone.

They have stuck it up 50 quid!! It was £799 earlier!
It's £849 at Reliance Direct with a 5 year warranty and a free Samsung UBDK8500, very good deal!

Cold for me, considering it was 799 yesterday morning. BT shop will have stock tomorrow according to its website and selling at £789. Personally I would not buy this TV unless the John Lewis's deal cames back again

How's the viewing angles?
Quite a few reports it's very poor, that's what's stopped me from buying it earlier.

I viewed this TV at pc World and I honestly couldn't notice any viewing problems, but hey I'm not a tv expert, or even go to a store and view it yourself perhaps?

I tried to view at pc world but they didn't have it on display unfortunately.

Reliant Direct are doing the 55 Q6F QLED for £949 which is a better deal compared to this at £849..

This is a good TV but its price is slightly out of position. Needs to be low £700 to make it a good deal.

It was £799 a week ago so not a great deal.

That's because are different things it can be applied to, and people frequently get confused between them.

Generally it should be ignored though, as none of them are very meaningful for TV use.

The short version would be:
1. Every TV that advertises HDR accepts a 10-bit signal.
2. No TV can reproduce the full brightness range that the HDR formats use those 10-bits to specify.
3. The difference between an 8-bit and 10-bit LCD panel is tiny and only affects areas that are also influenced by other hardware as well.

Just to correct a few things. Both 49 inch and 55 inch comes as 10 bit (8bit +FRC) (Not true 10 bit like most TVs in this price range). Most users will not notice any difference et all between a True 10 bit and a 8bit +FRC to be honest.

One of the best TVs you can buy in the market at this price range.

Viewing angles are excellent for this TV. It comes with IPS panels unlike the 49 inch which comes with VA.
So, if you are getting this 55 inch, you get excellent viewing angles and if you get the 49 inch, you get excellent blacks.

Make your choice.

Fantastic tv, paid £699 for it from Hughes.
Plays all the media I've tried.

Lack of channels on FreeSat but that is not Samsung's fault.

If any new specs. are added to the tv then the media box can be changed.
(I haven't seen that on a tv before)

The viewing angles are ok ish! Our dining table is 6 foot to the side (tv on wall), and the picture tends to get whiter. However if you are in front of the tv, it’s really good. It will blow you away. The ability to set a picture mode for individual HDMI signal is amazing. No more turning game mode off, once ps4 is off. Gaming is amazing, with no lag and it’s smooth. It’s a VA panel, so viewing angles will suffer, however it’s a 10 bit panel with a 120hz refresh rate (confirmed by Samsung). Richer sounds have it on display, so check it out before buying. Our seating arrangements are in front of TV, so we brought it.

It’s the other way around I think. It is a VA Panel. However the 49 inch model is 8 bit and 60hz and 55 inch model and up are 10 bit and 120hz.

Look at the reviews of the Q6F TV. Most are saying it’s a very poor budget QLED TV and massively inferior to the Q7

If its confirmed by Samsung its even better that it has a 10bit panel, but i doubt they know about every TV they sell on the tech specs. 10bit is difficult at this price and i would be surprised if it has true 10bit.

It’s a actual 120hz tv as well. It’s just that a lot of reviews are of the 49 inch version, hence the conflict. This web page is a good read;

Exactly. And that is why they used the IPS in 55" to remove the problem with viewing angles and it still looks great, just not as good as the 49" in my opinion. For someone who watches TV in ambient light, this TV will be great as blacks will look great. Only when the lights go out will you see the difference between an IPS and VA.

It comes with a media box that takes most of the inputs. There are still some on the back.
Samsung have said that the media box can be updated when a new one comes out.
(Upgrade to your tv rather than just firmware)

The box and media remote are made of plastic, the 8000+ series are metal.

Yes but its still better than the MU7000 which is what this is. The Q7 is another £400.

this is incorrect - The 55" inch is 10 bit screen supporting 120hz as confirmed on AV forums from multiple sources, its also one of the best TVs for gaming with low input lag . The 49 inch model is 8bit+frc and only 60hz and seems hamstrung compared to the 55".

I have an 55KS7000 upstairs and wanted something abit different for downstairs but having looked at 6 series Samsung, LG MID range(The 49SJ800/10 very disappointing) as well as finally looking at the Sony 7/8 series i couldnt find a TV spec TV or better quality picture than the 55MU7000. Its a level below the Samsung Q7, OLED and Sony 9 Series but the best out there for this price i agree

The 55" is not IPS. Where are you reading specifically that it is IPS on the avforums?

Both displayspecifications and the avforums review confirms the 55" is a VA panel:

Yes it is on paper better than this, what I am saying is Look at reviews of the q6. Don’t just go with the QLED “hype”. Satisfy yourself before buying.
It may have Quantum Dot, but the panel is reported to be poor.
However Currys are selling it for £949 with hwf450 sound bar free plus quid co TCB etc..
I got my mu7000 for £758 with sound bar and JL warranty. However I would not pay £849 for this tv without soundbar.Especially considering the Q6 deal from Currys.

When the first 55 inch came out yes it was VA and thats why it shows on displayspecifications.
But then Samsung changed the panel to IPS which obviously the site does not capture.

Its reported on AV Forums. I will see if i can find the source sometime.

IPS or not its still a great TV as i said before.
