Bought this on Boxing day for £689 (PRC were doing a £10 discount if you used Amazon Pay), great picture quality and even the HDR works reasonably well.

Really hope Samsung have some good 2018 models lined up. They were behind so many last year, really dropped the ball.
Price matched and ordered at JL. The hunt is over, thank goodness.

No more reading drivel about 8 this, 10 that, HDR, FRC, backlight bleed, local dimming, OLED, ULED, QLED.

Au revoir, Audiovisual HUKD Deals.

Shame about the stand.

Shame about the stand.

Looks really nice IMHO and allows you to put a centre speaker under the TV, the feet can be fitted in two different positions on the 55" version.
i have this tv, stand is fine

there are 2 slots closer to the middle for the stands aswell

Yes, it has standard VESA mount holes on the back....
MU7000 is apparently one of the best option for gamers in this price range. Decent input lag. Great price. Heat
RS should price match and offer 6 year warranty plus a £10 price match discount...

And the feet on this model can be moved closer together for those with a smaller AV stand...

I also bought this just before new year and got price matched by JL for the £699 deal. It's a beaut! Money well spent.

Be disappointed then. Almost all 2018 models are pretty much 2017 TVs with minor improvements mainly due to software/processing changes. No real big changes or switch ups sadly. Hope is on 2019 CES and inkjet oled panels + microled being released.

Out of interest how can you get HDR to work on this model? Would this be for gaming only like a ps4 pro or will it also work for freeview??

It works with the built in apps Netflix, Amazon Prime Video (in HDR10+), Youtube, BBC iPlayer, the built in media player and any other device that can output HDR (Xbox One X, PC, Blu Ray player etc etc) Freeview and Sky don't broadcast in HDR.

You just need HDR content - standard PS4 has it with some games (Battlefield 1, Horizon Zero Dawn, Elder Scrolls Online have it, but there's a fair few more).

You can play HDR content on YouTube/Netflix/Amazon - but I'm not sure if there's any HDR content on freeview.

HDR+ is Samsung's technology to horribly oversaturate the picture (sorry, 'enhance High Dynamic Range (HDR) quality to its highest picture quality capacity, even if the source isn’t in HDR format.'), it's a different thing from HDR10+

I believe that was also included in 2017 models like this from the start though, it was only the 2016 models it got added to.

Hah, don't forget to wish for flying cars and nuclear fusion while you're at it.

The last LED display pixel pitch shrink was a couple of years ago and we'll need two more to make that tech viable for home-sized tellies. I'd call that one 2022 if you're lucky.

There may be other OLED options in 2019, although they will be first generation products from their producers so expect some teething troubles and a high starting price:

Thanks OP. I ordered via RGB Direct originally. Now cancelling and collecting today from Richer Sounds for £719 with a 6 year warranty.

It has a grey frame as opposed to silver. I read somewhere that the back light is slightly better, although I'm thinking that is purely a rumour.

I can confirm this is great for gaming. It puts my Sony 4K TV to shame. The only thing that lets it down, is the advertising. Turn The PS4 off, an all you get it is Rakuten TV adverts. Annoying if your kids forget to turn off TV.

Is this wall mountable?

It is, but the mounting holes are deep inside the TV so any screws you get with brackets are too small. Be sure to have 45mm M8 screws in the house or be prepared to put it back in the box until the next day like me... Why Samsung couldn't have put 4 in the box considering they aren't standard length, for all it would cost them, is beyond me!
Edited by: "anlygi" 28th Jan
Why do people never read what they are agreeing too? Do not agree to Samsung’s advert policy and no adverts it’s that simple I’ve had this Tv since Xmas very good for gaming and 4K but not very good for normal tv when interlacing is involved as it micro stutters. Overall it’s a good set I paid £699 with a 5 year warranty nothing in this price range come close 😃

I bought the 7070 from Curry's.

It's the same panel as the 7000 but 2 slight differences.

1. The frame is gunmetal rather than silver (very minor).
2. There are dual Freesat HD tuners, meaning you can watch one channel and record another, provided you have an external HDD or decent USB stick.

The 7000 model has a single Freesat tuner, so can only view one channel.

TBH I don't use that feature alot, but might interest you.

The TV is very nice and has amazing picture quality. Personally, I leave everything standard but stick HDR+ on and turn on LED Motion Control and it looks stunning for movies and Netflix.

Sometimes the black level suffers in native HDR movies due to the amount of brightness the backlight has to push out, so for pure HDR lovers, you may want to hold out for OLED or at minimum a really good local dimming TV.

I use mine mostly for PS4 Pro and it's excellent for gaming.

The 7070 also has the aluminium smart remote that comes with the higher spec models, 7000 has the black plastic smart remote. I got my 7070 in the deal with the bundled K8500 UHD player posted back in October.

Thank you very much for your post. Mine will also be primarily used for gaming, so duel tuners doesn't interest me. In fact, I don't even watch terrestrial TV.

I boobed in to my local Currys/PC World and the MU7070's picture quality is just absolutely amazing. So if the 7000 is the same screen then I think I'll be getting it!
