Hi All

ill hold my hands up, I’m looking more for opinion on this than posting this as what I perceive a deal.

This is is on sale until tomorrow I believe, price drop of £50 from last week and includes a free 4k Blu Ray player.
my head is telling me to wait for the Black Friday period which I’m quite willing to do, but I have also read that the higher end tvs don’t usually get reduced.
whats everyone’s thoughts here

Also 3 months now tv entertainment pass by redemption

A 3D Blu Ray Player for a non 3D TV?

Guess that just means the player has the capabilities, not the tv.

Posted same deal at RS and mentioned Currys here:
hotukdeals.com/dea…113

I've gone for it. Was about to buy at £999 with no blu-ray player last week. May even sell that as I have an Xbox One S.

sorry to have doubled up? What’s your opinion at 55”? I’ve only seen the 49” in person?

ive only read good things

They have to bundle Blu-ray players, can't recall the last time I used a dvd. There a bit like that holiday shirt, you have one, but never gets touched.

exactly, no one watches them and 4K can be streamed but people see it and think they are getting a good deal. Must be the cases as its been posted twice

Really no point in getting a TV just yet unless you get one from a shop that price matches as the real sale on tvs happens on black Friday.

There aren't any streaming services that support DTS; you'll be lucky to get 5.1 even.
So I don't know about no-one watching Blu Rays

Wait until Black Friday will be cheaper

agree but its not that long ago that people were spending a fortune wiring their houses and now we have wifi, people buying blu rays and then streaming, tech is changing all of the time and pay extra for a box you wont use makes no sense to the masses. Yes there will be some who want it, and happy to pay a fortune for discs and in years they will have loads of discs they paid a fortune for sitting in a box in the loft.

We have a blu ray system spent a fortune on it, like many of our friends and family, and I cannot remember when the last time we had it on, talked it the other week and some of our lot have already removed theirs just dust collectors.

Best reviews of the 55" sets I've found so far and I also have the 65" KS8000 Samsun which I have been impressed with.

I agree but either way you look at it it’s an addition to the package.

I dont believe you are paying extra extra for the Blu Ray as this was 999 last week for the tv alone.

my thoughts would be to sell the blu Ray separately and clear 100 off the total price.

Agreed, picked up the 4K Planet Earth 2 disc the other day, sorry but as good as the '4K streams' are they don't match the bit rate and sound of discs, we just aren't there yet. Same with Guardians of the Galaxy 2, looked and sounded awesome in HDR with Dolby Atmos. Pretty certain streams can't do that for me.

The only thing worth having is HDR which is the ground breaking feature 3d never was. I've watch 4k content on an xbox one s blu-ray player and it was no better than a normal bluray. HDR content was noticeable better however, which Netflix and Amazon both now offer. Owe and if your cleaver, you can register a American gmail address and cast HDR content for pretty much the same price HD content costs from the UK play store. Google play credit is available from G2A. I cast Spiderman Homecoming for 99 cents in 4K HDR awesome.

I bought

I have recently bought a 4k/hdr player and yesterday I was watching planet earth 2. I was sitting all the way through an episode saying how amazing and what a difference HDR makes etc etc, I was cooing over it, I then changed disks and realised I had the normal blu ray copy and not the 4k one, my jaw hit the floor when I did see it, duh!

So the general consensus is don’t wait.....buy now
Edited by: "rikd83" 31st Oct

I've ordered it this morning, hopefully eBaying the player will get back £50-100, cheers Rik

What's the verdict on whether this is 8 or 10bit? I am 90% sure 8bit but have also read about anything over 49" in this range being 10 bit, which sounded strange

10bit according to rtings

My blu-ray player has arrived ahead of the TV tomorrow and it contains a free copy of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 also and a sticker on the box says 50% off your next 4K UnltraHD disc from Zoom.co.u

Stream 'a selection'. Still trying to find out exactly how many. But that's still not DTS is it?

Also, extras on Blu-rays such as behind the scenes etc. Are these available on streaming services?

FoxRaynard1 h, 46 m ago

Not according to https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/a41cb0c

Thats a couple of people thats tried to use that website as a source. Go on Samsungs very own website or any reputable reviewers and it clearly states thats its 10bit for 55" and above

Absolutely blown away with mine, playing games on the ps4 pro shows a massive difference between my 10 year old lg and this

Mine came Friday. I was upgrading from a 2 year old Sony 55” full hd, and there’s a massive difference.

What’s annoyed me is I’ve been looking at this in Currys the last month or so and have been really unsure about it. Clearly what they do is downplay the quality of any TV to push the OLED/QLEDs.

Still unsure wether to keep the Blu Ray player or not

Buy Planet Earth II and/or Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on UHD Blu-ray and you'll not be selling anything! Nothing on Netflix or Amazon comes close. My first purchases when I get mine as they blew me away.

Yep, on the Samsung website, it's under dynamic crystal colour paragraph where it's says over 1billion colours and then has underneath *49” screen sizes have an 8bit panel and 17 million colours. Which implies 55in and above are 10bit panels.

Massive difference between Blu Ray and Streams. I tested Rogue One through my PS4 Pro at the weekend - was amazed at the quality and that wasn’t even UHD!

Can I use the showbox app to for movies etc on this tv? I currently use a Chromecast via localcast app to stream on my 10yr old Samsung tv, from my Samsung fone, but I realy want to upgrade to a Samsung uhd smart tv.
