This set or the Sony kd55xf9005bu, is the sony miles ahead or not really worth the extra spend? looking for the best non oled 55" TV under £800, for TV and movie viewing, room gets bright at times which put me off oled's plus I think its better to spend less and upgrade after say 4-5years than spend double now on a decent oled

Without a doubt, go for the Sony XF9005. It's direct lit with a very high peak brightness. The alternative is Q70 or go for OLED.

There's no comparison between this and any RU7000 model. You need to compare with Samsung's QLED.

If you're looking for something else try the Samsung RU8000, Q6FN or LG SM9000.

Why's that?

They're not a high street seller and won't match online only suppliers (or that's what the lady instore told me, got 180quids of vouchers to use so was hoping for a match)
