Can anyone recommend a bridge camera with a view finder in the same price range?

Don't think it is in the same price range, but I can recommend the Canon SX40 HS. I use the viewfinder on mine almost all the time (habit from 35mm days!). (Note - it is an electronic viewfinder rather than optical)
A quick look on Amazon suggests the SX40 is now £230 as it's been superceded by the SX50.

A few mixed reviews on this. Heat added for the price..

Anyone have opinions on this camera? Any experience of using it?

Also argos are doing mini tripod 1/2 price if brought together. So camera and mini tripod = £83.98!

I bought this camera a couple of months ago and can really recommend it. The zoom is great and the picture quality is fab for what is basically a small, mini slr (minus the more specific details)
Only cons is that it's quite large, so you can't really fit it in your pocket; and its best to use decent rechargable AA batteries; as it eats through crap batteries extremely fast (including the ones provided with the camera!)

Oh, and the mini tripod is great and compact!

There is fuji S4500. I've bought it from here about 90ish.

It's probably oos now but you might want to keep an eye on it in case they replenish.

Fab price for the spec, wish this was on a few weeks ago (as I just bought a new camera) .....

Which batteries last the longest with this camera and what are their rechargeable equivalent, please ?

Has anyone got this? How is it as a camcorder?

I got a few 2400mAh AA rechargable batteries and they did the trick and last a while

Would be hot if it wasn't a girly colour!

Here's the review from Which?:

The Samsung WB100 has an excellent face detection feature that does a great job of adjusting the settings to keep your subject in focus. Our comprehensive tests find out whether it can produce the fantastic images needed to make it a Best Buy.
Though there are no major flaws with this camera, the photos it takes aren't quite on a par with the best on test. It's fairly hefty for a compact camera, but includes an impressive 26x optical zoom that'll let you get right up close to the action.

What is it?
A camera for people that want the flexibility of a super-zoom camera but without the bulk. Its large, 26x optical zoom lens means you're unlikely to be caught short, though it means it's bulkier than most compacts.

What's the picture quality like?
In our tests, the lens was annoyingly prone to colour distortions at strong-coloured edges, especially when zoomed right out to the widest angle. Zoom right in, and you'll also see a reduction in image sharpness.

On the automatic setting it's great for indoor portrait shots using the flash - if you don't use the flash the shot won't look as sharp. It takes good outdoor shots in bright light, too.

What's it like to use?
You have to frame your pictures using the LCD screen on the back - there's no traditional viewfinder, as is the case with all modern compact cameras. Like most such displays it can be tricky to view in really bright light, but it's visible through an impressively large viewing angle.

Is there anything I should watch for?
It stores images on an SD card - but you'll have to provide your own as there isn't one supplied.

Is there anything else I should know?
The built-in flash worked well at illuminating scenes over a good range of distances.

Should I buy it?
Though it has an impressive optical zoom and the image quality is acceptable, there are better cameras available.

Pros: Big optical zoom

Cons: Some flaws in photo quality

You cant seriously compare a bridge camera to an SLR....
A bridge camera is basically an oversized compact with just more zoom.

What about http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5598634.htm

Fujifilm FinePix S4300 14MP Bridge Camera - Black. £89.99

OK, so it isn't the S4500, but it is new, and appears to be available in Red, Black or Silver from Argos, down from £120.
Obviously, it has a viewfinder.

Now now, I was just making a point about how it felt and worked. no need to get defensive

I have one of these, an SLR it is not, but it is fantastic for normal use.
Bought it to replace Sony compact digital camera.

I think the picture quality is excellent even when fully zoomed in, the shot stability tools are also really good!

Great price, I paid an extra £20 at the end of last year.

I've not got anything to be defensive about.... you're just wrong.... a bridge camera is not basically a mini SLR.

Well would you buy one, dearie?

Most Ferrari's are red..... so are Ducati's.

Not specifically a girls colour then.

I always use 7DayShop for AA NiMH batteries, eg 4 x 2900 mAh.

While this seems like a good price, a lot of people mistake the idea of a bridge camera. It's a point and shoot digital camera. If you are looking to get into SLR's, get an SLR.:{

I found bridge cameras are like fake designer gear. It looks like what you really want (an SLR), and its cheaper, but you will be disappointed by what you get; a glorified point and shoot digicam.;)

when changing batteries, does it need Date & Time 2b reset?

will this fit the bill ?
