Exclusive to Jessops

The impressively powerful Samsung WB610 has a large 15x wideangle zoom - combined with a selection of handy automatic features plus HD movie recording, making this beautifully styled compact digital camera ideal for those who want to take point-and-shoot photography a step further.

15x Schneider Lens with 24mm Wideangle
Thanks to state-of-the-art Schneider optics, sharp and vibrant photography is guaranteed throughout the Samsung WB610’s enormous zoom range (equivalent to 24-360mm), which covers everything from 24mm extra wideangle for stunning landscapes to long telephoto for probing close-ups.

As much control as you like
For those who want to be in command of their photography, the Samsung W B610 offers the option of full manual control.

Those who prefer to capture amazing images with the minimum of fuss are also well catered for with Smart Auto mode, which automatically chooses the ideal settings for every scene, while user-selected scene modes bridge the gap between the full creativity and ease of use.

HD Movie with HDMI
Record movies in 720p HD quality and with the HDMI terminal you can connect to your HDTV using an optional HDMI cable.

Face Modes
Superb people pictures are a doddle with the Samsung WB610, which boasts a collection of clever functions for portraits and group shots, including face detection, which optimises exposure and focus for up to nine faces in a frame, smile detection, which fires the shutter when the subject smiles, and blink detection, which eliminates unwanted ‘closed-eyes’ shots. Beauty shot and red eye fix combine to add the finishing touches to your masterpiece.

Face Detection - Optimised exposure and focus for up to 9 faces
Face Recognition - Recognises previously photographed facs and prioritises them for ideal focus and exposure
Smile Detection - Fires the shutter when your subject smiles
Blink Detection - Makes the camera take 3 successive rapid shots if a blink is detected so that at least one of the pictures will have opened eyes
Beauty Shot - Gives skin tones vibrancy and reduces the appearance of blemishes
Red Eye Fix - Automatically corrects redeye as soon as the photo is taken. Can also be added manually

Dual Image Stabilisation
Combines optical (sensor shift) image stabilisation with digital shake correction to combat blurry images on two fronts

Scene Modes
As outlined above, you can instruct the WB610 to tailor its shooting preferences to the type of image you are taking. The modes include the following: Portrait, Children, Night scene, Backlight, Landscape, Sunset, Dawn, Firework, Snow, Close up, Self, Cafe, Food and Text.

Auto Contrast Balance
Works to give bright and punchy images but without washing out bright areas or blocking out shadows.

Additional Features

A large, bright 3.0” LCD monitor
Smart Album - Sort images by time or date, subject, colour or face
Mains or USB battery charging
Recycle Bin function - stores recently deleted image files in case they have been deleted in error

You could get the WB600 (which is exactly the same camera in a slightly different colour) for £15 less (several sellers when you google). But it's better to have the option of holding it first before purchase, IMO.

Original Poster

According to some AV forum the 610 has an Amoled Screen whereas the 600 has TFT.

Would'nt have a clue what an Amoled screen is though.

Samsung WB2000 anyone? puleez

The Samsung website lists the WB610 as having a AMOLED screen but I think the specs are just a copy of the WB650/660 as it is heavier and also lists GPS functionality.
The WB610 box only claims for a TFT screen.

this thing is quite thick. i was going to get one but it is too thick to fit in my jeans. good price though. hot.
