If you are talking about cost then yes. If talking about function, reliability and servicing costs it's a much much closer run battle.

Miele trade on their name. I've never come across an independent appliance technician yet though that recommends them.

Miele also trade on quality engineering, it's like the number of engineers who prefer to work on vaillant boilers because they are easier to work on than the better Worcester Bosch.

They are over engineered. I'll give you that. But does that result a machine being better at doing its designed task?

I'm not knocking Miele on quality. But they don't offer value for money. You can get a machine for significantly less money with equal functionality and similar probable reliability.
