New recipe=artificial sweetener laden crap.
san pellegrino used to be expensive but perfect - the only ingredients were fruit juice, sugar and water, and the taste was absolutely pure and wonderful. They embraced an artificial sweetner(stevia) specially for england when the sugar tax was brought in a year or two ago. It now tastes about the same as fanta :-( i wish they had just put the price up by the cost of the tax :-(

I love these. But watch out for the sugar. It has more sugar than coke... Which is rather impressive...

They should just charge a bit more , and maybe have a diet range for people who like crap tasting drinks?
Use to be my favourite drink but not any more...same with Cadbury Mini Eggs, tastes cheap since they changed the recipies

True - the only soft drinks I touch now are original Pepsi and Coca Cola.

Im in total agreement. They should have preserved that great taste and raised the price. When the 'new recipie' label arrived my work place still had some older stock. I enjoyed my last taste of goodness before the awful fomula came into full effect!

Absolutely. In fact, even Fanta tastes better. I used to love San Pellegrino, but since the sugar tax it just tastes like fizzy water! Sugar tax was one of the worst decisions made, ruined some of the best drinks!

The goverment decision was correct. There is a diabetes 'epidemic' and must be addressed. The wrong decision was taken by the manufacturers. Instead of passing the sugar tax to the consumers (without extras I may add) or shrinking the product (which they seem rather trigger happy doing all the time), they elected to reformulate their product.

People should be capable of making their own decisions. I blame the government and the manufacturers.

It must always be the people's choice to decide for themselves unless we as a people voted and insisted in this for us.
Otherwise the government can also insist on banning meat to reduce cancer, Banning cigarettes, banning dairy, banning eggs, banning alcohol or even state mandated compulsory 2 hours of exercise per day.
Where will it end.
I approve of these things if a person wants to do it for themselves, but they should never be compelled to do so.
It's a slippery slope and it starts with one step.

Nobody said that the government took away your right to savour sugar; you can have all you want to your heart's desire. You just have to pay a tax in lieu of insurance. Call it society insurance. I bet you have a mobile phone insurance and you are not nagging about it.

I believe in personal responsibility and that people should want to eat healthy for themselves without coercion, propoganda and dogma.

I'm a vegan , and eat fairly healthy, but would want to indulge in the occasional naughty chips with lots of vinegar and fizzy drink, maybe once a month if I choose!.

I disagree....trouble with "personal responsibility"......some people just lack in that department with no fault of their own. Could be due to learning difficulties, mental health and the youngsters who don't understand until it's too late. Then think about the poor nurses having to care for the morbidly obese patient. It takes 2 people to lift one leg! You can have the entire team of nurses dealing with a task instead of 1! Think of the cost to hire bariatric equipment, ie the chair, the bed, the hoist, the zimmer, blood pressure machine, the ambulance...it goes on.

That's the balance we have to make with governance Vs personal responsibility. Pros and cons on both sides, and we have to strike a balance that works for the peoples benefit and not the corporations.
