Good price heat added
Nice price @apur32
I bought that last week. At the time there were other similar spec 128Gb cards on base.com for a couple of quid less.

I bought it anyway as a sucker for Nintendo branding, but didn't post as I figured It'd go cold for the same reason.

Both works but this has better specs than Ultra.

thanks. I went with the cheaper one in the end as I'm not sure my son will notice
Decent price. As mentioned it's more expensive by a than a SanDisk ultra by £4. Technically this has faster write speeds but realistically your internet connection on the switch will mean there's little or no difference for most people

Still £4 more isn't that bad. Worth it for some. Would have better resale value of you ever wanted to sell it
Ah jus bought this from eBay for £21
I couldn't move any games onto my SD card. I assume it's because it's not a Nintendo ad card.

Hey, pay an extra £4 so that you can resell it used for an extra quid

If I recall correctly - Moving content between the internal storage and SD Card couldn’t be done on the switch itself until firmware 10.0.0 which came out hours ago.

Poor write speeds
128gb fills up so quickly, 256gb needed for the long term, I'd have 1TB in there if it allowed it!
andyjstinson14/04/2020 08:24

Says up to 100mb/s on both?

From Amazon.
* [for 64GB-512GB] Up to 100MB/s read speed; write speed lower. Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device, interface, usage conditions and other factors.

Kind of matches my experience tbh. I miss my Samsung SD card

From base.com

[1] 1GB=1,000,000,000 bytes. Actual user storage less.
[2] 128&256GB: Up to 100MB/s read speed; up to 90MB/s write speed. 64GB: Up to 100MB/s read speed; up to 60MB/s write speed. Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending upon host device interface, usage conditions and other factors. 1MB = 1,000,000 bytes.

I’d imagine it’s the same card just not branded.
Just upgrade our switch to a 512GB card (give from 64GB to 128GB to 200GB and now 512GB). Once you get a few third party games it soon fills up - strangely Nintendo games don’t take up as much space. I should say we have gone all digital and using game cards takes up much less memory.
I've just bought a Switch... do I need one of these? I'm not planning on having loads of games - just a few my daughter will play.

I will probably buy cartridges mainly - can you install your cartridge games to the memory card (I'm guessing not!). The only benefit seems to be that I don't need to swap carts but on the flip-side I can't sell them on at a later date.

Sorry total noob here!
As soon as i buy a 64GB for 11.99 this card drops in price dramatically. Great find

Your switch should be a 32GB internal storage, you should get about 28GB free to use (dont hold me to it) I downloaded animal crossing from the store (got a code cheaper) and it took up about 6.5GB of space and Pokémon Quest 250MB ish.
The carts still take up internal space but not as much as a downloaded game from the store, but it all depends on the game and the updates for it too. If your looking at about 3 games I wouldn't of thought you would need extra space, but 4+ it might be worth buying a card just in case, again dependant on the game etc.

Probably not but it depends on the games. Some have patches and in rare cases large parts of the game need to be downloaded like Spyro need to be downloaded even if you buy the cartridge. If it's just Nintendo's own games you'll likely be fine without. I have 5 cartridge games and 1 digital. I did add a 64gb card but that's only because I had one spare.
I did see this last week but didn't buy because it's sold by BaseCH and not Base.com (sounded like a marketplace seller which is a bit dodgy - having been burnt before I'd only go by reputable sellers). Update: have been told that it's my 'misconception' and that they are not dodgy!

mymemory.co.uk/sandisk-128gb-ultra-micro-sd-card-sdxc-uhs-i-a1-100mb-s.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwvtX0BRAFEiwAGWJyZPElMMwRGvc6YpSEsDslwJFW7I7ZkCd-3Wv3k33K8qt6W-o1P7MpBxoCHdAQAvD_BwE

My memory sell the same Nintendo branded one for £19.95 which is a few pennies cheaper than Amazon and the normal SanDisk version (linked) for just £13.95 which is what I eventually went for.

If you are thinking about price (aren't most of us) you would be buying cartridges rather than downloads as they are usually much cheaper generally and of course, they can be resold later (downloads are not transferable).

128gb is plenty for those who don't mind changing game cards and SanDisk is the best alternative to the official Nintendo version which is again made by SanDisk. £13.95 is the best MB to £ value available right now for SanDisk. If you want bigger, you can always upgrade to a larger capacity later once prices for 256gb or higher, drop.

It's the same it's not a 'dodgy' marketplace seller and even if it was take 10 seconds to check they aren't 'dodgy'. So you paid more for an item due to a misonception that couldv'e been cleared up in less than a minute of googling. I'm sure your post took longer. Hope this helps for next time.

Thanks all - I went for the 128GB MyMemory for £13.99. Not going to be a heavy user but handy to have. I didn't think the mushroom was worth £4 extra sadly...
Showing as £27.09 for me now?
@Noxia I spent longer trying to search base.com for the info you pasted! Missed the bit at the very end on my initial browse - have updated the post to say they are not dodgy (not being one of our brave keyworkers, I have the time)!

If I found that info I probably would have bought it and never have found the cheaper SanDisk only branded version... (so my bad Googling actually meant I paid less for the non-Nintendo branded SanDisk)...

Just to clarify - I have no problems with trusting a purchase from base.com - I was just unsure of BaseCH as it's not clearly indicated who they were!

FINALLY! SanDisk 128GB (not Nintendo branded) arrived TODAY 23-APR-2020 and it works a treat. Shipped from Switzerland!!! Anyway, one thing I noticed is that it does a really quick update before your first use of a MicroSD but I also did a quick FORMAT on a PC after this to reclaim 19GB from this card before re-inserting it into the Switch and beginning to move content onto it with the new OS V10.
