Super expensive for something that you will never see after you've stuck …Super expensive for something that you will never see after you've stuck it in your Switch...

That’s like complaining about heat because you don’t see it either.

I think he means you can get better deals on U3 Micro SD cards without it being nintendo branded.

For example an Integral 256GB U3 card is £27 (or the 128GB U3 for £14).

Exactly. Some folks require it to be spelled out though instead of that weird analogy that some others seem to quite like?!? Strange.

The same OP posted a 200GB Sandisk at the same time as this one - hotukdeals.com/dea…629

Clearly a much better deal for an extra £4, but hey, it's not Switch branded, but yes, my point is - you will not see the card and you are paying extra for it because it is licensed. More Switch tax at work!

Still trying to wrap my head round the weird heat analogy and how that relates to what I was saying...

Yeah and if you are using for the Switch the Integral 256GB deal is even better as the Switch doesn't store anything important on the SD card anyway so no need to go for a premium brand (not that Integral is bad).

I took the MyMemory branded one this other day, 256GB for £20.99 (plus 68p back on TCB) as it would appear to be the Integral one unbranded. Bargain.

We used to use the mymemory USB drives at work (they also look like rebranded integral drives) but the failure rate was very high so we went back to the Integral drives and have had no issues. Due to that I would avoid their stuff but maybe the SD cards don't suffer from the same issues.

Yes, I had gathered similar feedback from many buyers with some Micro SD cards as well.

Just got the micro sd for the Switch, so no big deal if it goes kaput - lifetime warranty on it according to the site, surely they cannot be all that bad if they have to keep replacing them?

edit: in saying that, I had a 3 year old Sandisk Extreme Pro 16GB card become unreadable a few weeks ago - sent it off to Sandisk (they paid for UPS courier), 1 week turnaround and I got a new one back.

Yeah for the switch it doesn't really matter - in my experience about 90% of them have been fine so you're probably ok. I just wouldn't use them for your precious holiday snaps! 😁
