The heat dissipation though is non existent because of the small size which is why I returned it. I was afraid it might burn the usb port on my laptop

You could always get a USB extension cable... And run that into the fridge.

Spend another £5.01 and get an extra 15% off too with their BDAY15 code... tempted to buy 2...
Doh ignore that, tried it and using the code prevents the £5 from coming off.
This fast enough to play 4K video from...?

This will easily do the job.

I can watch 4k content from an old USB 2.0 external hdd (5400rpm).
Is this the model that gets really hot when plugged in?

I'd say they do. My similar USB 3.0 ones get rather hot from light to medium use, and scorching hot to the touch under heavy load. They are ultra tiny though

I had the white version of this for my Ultrabook and the temps on ti were ridiculous. I ended up returning it and replacing it with a Samsung ultra fit drive that runs much cooler.

Anyone know if there’s such thing as a USB C version of these anywhere?

Gain a bit of perspective, come on! It won’t burn the port on your laptop - silicon can run at over 100C which still wouldn’t burn anything but as this is so small you are much closer to the source of the heat (the chip and controller). It’s like your mobile phone SoC can reach very high temperatures but you never touch the actual CPU directly so even if it was 90C you wouldn’t know, your phone would just feel a bit warm.
Looks brill for the price
Does the plastic 'cap' part still break off on these?

My 2 of these don't even get noticeably warm even, I transferred 80gb to one and nothing, I only get 42mb write though in crystaldisk for 3.0

It’s just a few internet points, I wouldn’t worry. MyMemory deals are pretty easy, just get their newsletter, post best deals before anyone else - simple. I don’t bother any more because it will get posted within minutes even if I don’t, it’s a bit of a pointless situation.
Ordered one, I've lost USB Memory to overheating before so if this gets too hot then I'm just sending it back.

I have a few similar one's to the one's your refering too (I'm assuming the metal ones - as opposed to the OP's plastic ones?).

Either way, I have several of the metal one's (from a previous Deal on here some Month's back ... )

And I pray to God that what happened to was literally a 'one-off' perhaps?, and that NONE of mine that have stuff on too, meets a similar fate ...

Flash drives failing is pretty regular, they’re only for moving stuff around, not singular storage of irreplaceable data.
4% TCB too
